Well one of them! Two of the neighbourhood cats have 'adopted' me they are always hanging around my garden and following me about, especially this black one who even comes in the house now. (I think he has a bit of a crush on Rosie) He's a lovely big fluffy boy very playful although he does bite sometimes! He reminds me of my old cat Barney (very pretty but a bit lacking in the brains department - in fact a bit of a himbo ;D ) Here's a couple of pics I took of him the other day:

Just look at him making himself at home. What a lovely fluffy bundle he is. I hope Rosie is impressed, I am! ;D

Very nice - cats are good at 'adopting' who they want and finding cat lovers. My mum and dad often have cats turning up at theirs (which as they are fairly isolated is no mean feat).

Yes sarah, you are right there! If you are a cat lover you're never without one as the strays always seem to know which house to go to! Our family has always ended up with cats this way and quite a few others we had to palm off on other people when we were getting inundated with them!
Sadly Rosie is NOT impressed by him. In fact she chased him downstairs and threatened to beat him up when he encroached too far onto her territory! (Quite a funny sight as he is very big and she is tiny, about half his size) Ah the course of true love never runs smooth... ;D
He really is a hoot. When you play with him he gets very annoyed with the stick/string or whatever and starts huffling and puffling like a steam train then spitting and growling and he gets so annoyed he ends up grabbing his own feet and biting them by mistake! Not the brightest bulb in the box!

The cheeky thing actually jumped up on my bed and went to sleep there yesterday. Rosie who was already there gave him a filthy look, spat at him, then went back to sleep herself. She is so not impressed ;D

Hmm, that cat is not in my good books at the moment. He keeps hanging around outside shouting to be let in. I was woken up at 4am this morning by noises and thought someone was trying to break in. When I summoned up my courage and crept downstairs clutching my hammer I realised it was the dratted animal bashing against the front door trying to get in. It was so cold last night I felt sorry for him being shut out all night so I let him in. I put him downstairs with the spare litter tray and some water hoping he would go to sleep. But then he spent ages digging up the carpet trying to get upstairs. He eventually settled down for a couple of hours and I let him out again when it got light but I didnt get much sleep. I am annoyed at his owners as I dont approve of people 'putting the cat out' at night especially if its really cold. I have a feeling the poor thing is practically living under my car. Now it is raining and cold and I am scared to even go outside to put the rubbish in the bin in case he appears and I am too soft to turn him away. Help!!!!

I am annoyed at his owners as I dont approve of people 'putting the cat out' at night especially if its really cold. It is annoying, not to mention highly dangerous. The Cats Protection did a survey a couple of years ago that most cats get killed on the roads at dawn and dusk (when a cat is naturally more active anyway), especially as that lovely cat is nearly all black. Topsy (the cat that lives at my parents house) sometimes wanders out late at night, but she sometimes doesnt come back, as she has lots of space around her (1/2 acre garden & 2 acre field), so she is not always in earshot. If she isnt there by the time anyone goes to bed, then she has to wait anything between 5 am - 7 am (depending on what my dad, my brother or my mum are working) before there is anyone up to let her in (my parents dont have a cat flap and I doubt she knows how to use one anyway). But thankfully, as she is now getting older, she doesnt wander too far even when the weather is fine, so these are rare occurrences (she is going to be 10 in February). 99% of the time, she is inside late at night. She is black and white (more black than white!), which is slightly worrying, and of course, being in the country, there are no street lights. The road gets quite busy, but fortunately she hardly ever crosses it, and been as she has lived around there (originally she lived next door, then went next door but one, before living with my parents) most of her adult life, she is used to the road. Fortunately she is a very nervy/skitty cat unless she knows you so I think the road scares her!

I've threatened to put both my rescues 'out' tonight and lock the door! I'm trying with them Claire, but they just might be the exception that proves the rule,(re killing each other!!)

Any progress on your moggies yet kunuma?
I am trying to become a little more aloof with the black fellow and only let him in occaisionally and keep him out of Rosie's bedroom. She still hasnt taken to him tho he is absolutely smitten. (When he sees her he goes all gooey and rolls about rubbing his head against everything and purring.)
It is hard to keep him out tho as every time you open the door he is there! Also his mother was knocking around the other day too tho at least she doesnt try to come in. Dont think they get much attention from their owners.

Update on Cat War!! Feral cat has annihilated all opposition, but like a dalek, can't do stairs very well. She seems to be unable to withdraw her back claws since her pelvis injury, and can't walk on carpet as she gets caught in it! Stray last seen hiding in bathroom cupboard.................. Anyone want to swop two cats for a puppy - I can cope with dogs! ;D

Oh dear kunuma. Yes dogs are SO much easier!
Rosie has gone from dislike to outright hatred for Blackie, due to a bit of a faux paux on his part. He sneaked into the bedroom where she was asleep under the throw on the bed, saw the covers moving and pounced! Rosie leapt out hissing and spitting and saw him standing there looking bewildered. It confirmed all her fears that he had been lurking around ready to murder her when her back was turned and now she really HATES him. So much for them becoming friends. Now he is confined to downstairs.
He also managed to mangle my hand when I was trying to comb a stubborn tangle out of his bottom! Sometimes I think we are all mad....

We should exchange cats Claire, I'm sure my mad feral would prefer a male, and the little stray would prefer anyone to the mad feral!
