I always thought JPT's Plenty of Ponies was a one-off, not part of a series. But someone happened to post about reading it a while ago on a Facebook group, they claimed there are other books about the Esmond family. Just wondered if that's true or not? Also, my copy of this book is a hardback, but hardbacks seem to be rare for many much later pony books, if they exist. A lot of the common later ones are Armadas. Given how much they butchered some Chalet School titles, I'm always wary of cuts with them. Though I suppose there wouldn't be any cuts or updating (another frustration you sometimes get), if the book was paperback originally. The only pony books I can think of offhand that had cuts are some Monica Edwards, and Six Ponies, I'm lucky to have read the latter in hardback. I don't know if Plenty was cut in paperback, but wonder whether any other books in it's series (if they exist!), likely would be?

No there isn't any other books involving the same characters so the person is wrong. Unless there's a short story that I am unaware of. The full text edition is now available on amazon and Waterstones website in paperback. It's also available as an ebook.

Interesting, but I haven't heard of any other books or stories featuring the Esmond family either.

There's definitely not another book featuring the Esmomds. I don't think there is a short story either, although possibly there is one in a magazine somewhere. It's possible that someone has published a fanfic type e-book following their adventures as people have done with the Pony Club characters and Jill. Something for me to research!
The Armada books were well known for quite harsh editing, although I don't have information for every edition. I agree the Monica Edwards books were quite badly butchered, but there were many others. My late friend had started a website devoted to Armadas which had a lot of info on such subjects but sadly when he died he didn't leave the information needed to keep this site (and his other excellent websites) alive. One day when I have time I will try and end editing information to my website. I have in a few cases, but it's a huge job.
