Well i should know at least 2 of those breeds, 9 is a lovely pony too, but i have no idea from that list which book they go with, especially if Kunama's answer is correct.
7 with N, so must be a fell, i like Dales with ribbons in tails to assist in telling the difference!

Correct you two. (I did put a couple of breeds in especially for you two lol).
Yes 7 is a Fell. They are really hard to tell apart from Dales ponies as they have very similar roots. Dales ponies tend to be on everage slightly bigger and possibly less pretty in the face, also you occaisionally see grey Fells but I've never seen a grey Dales! Another difference is that they sadly never appear in pony books. If I ever get round to writing one it will have a Dales pony in it! (I have a soft spot for them as they're the native pony of my neck of the woods. My own Domino, the foal who is on my avatar, is part bred Dales.)

I know number 9!! Won't pinch another guess, but his name is I think Raasay!! I thought he looked vaguely familiar - he's stallion, Kincardine Raasay Or do you mean that's the ponies name in whatever book it is, now that would be a coincidence!

Yep I meant in real life, I'm an online stalker of the Talisker Stud and a few other Highland and Dartmoor studs! Bookwise he would be a second for the Jinny books so B.

1 is an Andalusian and the book is The Something Special Horse. 3 is a Lipizzaner, book is Airs Above The Ground. 4 is a Mongolian, so obviously The Marvelous Mongolian. 5 is either a Morgan, Saddlebred, or Hackney, but I have no idea which book.

Number 5, well first I thought it was an American Saddlebred because it looked as though the tail had been cut (don't get me started on that!!) but it didn't look quite right then I decided that it was wearing a crupper in the picture so was perhaps a Morgan. I'm stuck on book though by a process of elimination it must be the K M Peyton K one??

For NEWBIES -- WELCOME AND POST OFTEN AND LONG! For games and quizzes, we have a tradition of only answering/guessing one at a time, to give more people a chance to play. The author of the quiz will check in every few days to update and "score" the guesses to date.
Kunuma, you are right -- 5. is a MORGAN and it goes with K. STEALAWAY, to confirm your guess -- I mean, I remember for sure, not just process of elimination. But since Kunuma said it first, my official turn will be:
13. are BANKER ponies from the Outer Banks of North Carolina, USA, and they go with -- D. RUNAWAY PONY, RUNAWAY DOG --
pony Sassy is a Banker and his buddy the little runaway dog has the cute name of Tough Enough!

12 is a Connemara I think and hence would be A Pony for Free, think I just read that, but like all modern ones, you forget them 10 seconds after you read them!
Ps Hope you haven't been flooded out Claire, wish you could send some rain down here, we haven't had anything but a sprinkle and need some rain desperately!

Well done all! Sorry for slow update with answers - flipping logging in problems again on my new laptop. Seems to have sorted itself out now.
Rally - I've always fancied reading the Tough Enough series but it's hard to find over here. Is it worth tracking down?
Kunuma - thanks no I've been OK the floods were about 10 miles away.

Claire, I only have Runaway Pony, Runaway Dog, which I received as part of the Weekly Reader Book Club when I was in first or second grade!! I am inspired to get the series now myself. I do remember the incredibly lovely illustrations. That book is of the "animals must find their way home" ilk, 3rd person omniscient narration but still the focus is on Tough Enough's and Sassy's actions, not the people's -- so you have to like the pony point of view type of story. But now I've got to track some more of them down, as well as reread RPRD, which I haven't read in probably 40 years. because they look lovely. For somewhat younger readers, though -- not picture books but something akin to the reading level of the Bobbsey Twins or early Little House books (sorry for all the American book references).

Thanks for the info Rally. The illustrations do look lovely and I don’t mind reading books for younger readers. No worries I get the USA book references I’ve read Bobbsey Twins and a couple of the Little House series.

It’s a Przewalski which is the Mongolian if the book. Not sure I’d it will let me update the quiz as at the moment pooboards is only letting me sign in on my phone! But I’ll try!

Well done all so far. Clues for the last 2:
14 is a heavy horse which features in a trilogy of books, the second of which is set in the breed's orgin country of France.
15 is a German pony, I think it is the only native pony breed of the country still surviving in the country.

I was trying to make 15 into a mongolian to go with that book, but it didn't look like one, if it's German it must be a Dulmen, but I'm stuck on the book!
!4 is a Percheron - and I'm going to guess that it goes with The Only Horse for Jan, because it's a horse not a pony!

14 is a Percheron but it doesn't go with the Only Horse for Jan. Right, superhuman effort - it must go with the M one missing Matilda. And the German pony must go with the only horse for Jan because the author looks German, but I'm still muttering that it isn't a horse!!

Lol. Yes you got them right this time. To be fair it is translated from the German so they may have used horse instead of pony. But I think it's probably used as the generic term for an equine. As far as I can recall the book is not exactly written by a horse expert.
