Thanks for the great pics Sarah. We have a similar day on Good Friday up at Middleham, Yorkshire, which is a mini Lambourn or Cheltenham, mainly jumpers. I havent been for a few years tho cos most of the bigger yards started taping off the stables so you couldn't even have a chat with the horses.

That is a shame. From the yards i went to, only one had some kind of tape up. All the others just had signs up - saying do not touch or feed the horses - I guess for health and safety reasons. It really was a fab day, better than the newmarket day I went to years ago :-)

That's good Sarah. When I started going to the one up here there was only one yard had the tape across, also although most closed at 1pm, there were a couple open on the afternoon so it was a good day out. Then they started putting the tape up on nearly all of them and the afternoon yards closed so it became a bit of a waste of money. And it's quite expensive. A shame tho cos I used to really enjoy going there. Anyone else have these open days?

Newmarket has one around September time - not been for years though. Might try this year as it is not so far away.
At Lambourn the yards closed around 1pm and then there was a lot of events on the events field - parade of champions, Shetland pony grand national, schooling with national hunt jockeys, showjumping, lurcher racing and a parade of the local hunt and hounds.
