Skylark is tricky....originally she belongs to Mrs. Stevens, who can't ride her, but she is passed on to Vicki Jordan, who can (up to a point) in Vicki and the Brown Mare by Sam Savitt

Falla - the part bred Arab mare from Pony for Two and Coco the Gift Horse Knocker, Horses is Like People and Nobody's Pony - what was the girls name??? It was something stupid like Lolly. Choc Bloc - Eric whats his face's showjumping cob Wishing, now she was a mare rescued from an auction and rechristened because the boy who owned her wasn't allowed to keep her because he either wanted to do dressage instead of 3 day eventing or the other way round (waffling on to try and hide the fact I can't remember his name or that of the book! )

Rock....the only Rock I can think of is Sweet Rock from the book of the same name by Gillian Baxter....the pony belongs to Chris Bowman, but is ridden by Sharon King
Royal Flame belongs to Cassandra Leigh in Rossette for Royal by Patricia Leitch
Jingo belongs to John Meade, butcher, and father of Tabby and Martin, who get to ride the pony on early closing day, making him The Wednesday Pony by Primrose Cumming

There is also a Charity owned by Jean in the series by Joanna Cannan. Clown is trained by Augusta and Christina but is owned by a local farmer called Ted Dunne, and he is finally bought by Tilly (just looked it up in the book so a bit of a cheat) Rory O'Grady was the popstar owner of DAmson Gin (looked that up too!)

Grin..darkhorse, I don't think it's a cheat....would have looked up Damson Gin myself, but I didn't care for the Jackie series and gave the book away long ago :-)

One more (or two, depending how you look at it!), Oberon is owned by Carmen Trent in Pony and His Partner and The Mystery Pony by Sheila Chapman, but there is also a ghost pony called Oberon in The Mystery of Pony Hollow (also printed as The Ghost Pony) by Lynn Hall....as there's nothing left of that Oberon by the time the story starts but a name plate and some bones, I expect you were referring to Chapman's book!

The Oberon I was looking for was that in Sheila Chapman's book belonging to Carmen. The Kitty I was looking for is not in Freelance the Pony but in another book (incidentally one I think you have read recently Rosie) But points to all who got the alternative names anyway. I did try to pick names that weren't duplicated but its pretty hard with so many books around and my memory, like Rosie's not being like it used to be.

LOL....no wonder Oberon, aside from Orbit, was the most familiar name to me, but also the most difficult to remember which book he was in....he was all over the place! (I've read/have Riding Days in Rook's Hollow, but forgot completely that there was an Oberon in that one too!).
Claire, seriously, I think you do great quizes, and I'm always impressed with how many fun, different quizes you come up with!
On the remaining unclaimed ponies, I feel like I should remember Witchcraft, but am pretty sure I've not come across any of the others...will be interesting to see which books they come from.

I'm going to carry on being vague, as I can't look anything up with everything in boxes - still can't remember the boys name who owned w Wishing, was it in Showjumping Summer? Witchcraft was a grey mare who got lost on the Scottish moors and was caught by a gypsy girl, then her real owner (Kirsty??) found her and reclaimed her, was the book about Pony Trekking?

Post by Claire on Jan 11, 2010 20:20:26 GMT 1
Yes it was Showjumping Summer! I'll let you off the owner's name - it was Melrose. You are close with Witchcraft, the name wasn't Kirsty tho the book was partly about pony trekking. Half a point and I'm sure someone else will be able to fill in the blanks now!

Duh just noticed you said boy. If you'd kept quiet I wouldnt have known ;D
Its awful when all your books are packed up isnt it. I've gone thru that quite a lot and you always want a particular book that is in the bottom of the box at the bottom of a pile!

Yes there were - they called them lookers and said they had been lookering the sheep!! They did have two ponies too, I think one of them was Maggie but needless to say can't remember the other! Old age!
