I had snow on Wednesday, but as I was coming home on the bus in started to snow in town! So I was very worried because if it was bad in town, then it would be worse where I live (I live on the side of the mountain and the village is nothing but big steep hills - no flat bits). Thankfully although it is bad, it seems to have come down in a big load and has stopped now, but there is a lot of coverage.
My parents (who is slightly higher than me) have got it just as worse. This morning it said that over the weekend 3 counties are going to be effected badly, and they live in one of them (I live in a different county to my parents). I am there now, but so far *touches wood* there hasnt been any new snow since I arrived.
It's my mother's special birthday on Sunday, and usually we go out somewhere if my dad isn't working. My dad isn't (fortunately), but if it is bad, then we wont go out, which my mother doesn't exactly relish on her birthday!

Hope it clears up for your mum's birthday garej. My parents are supposed to be coming for a visit tomorrow (and my dad is supposed to be doing some DIY for me lol!) but the snow may put them off too. They have had the worst of it for once as the coasts are the worst hit area up here. We havent had any more snow in Richmond but its bloomin freezing outside and everything is frozen solid. To make matters worse I seem to have some problem with my central heating as its burning up the units at a ridiculous rate and costing a fortune so I'm having to try and limit it and use my elec heaters instead. I hate winter!!!

It does get cold, but the thing is I cant use an hot water bottle in bed (or an electric blanket for that matter).

Poor you - it seems too early for snow. I'm off to Suffolk tomorrow and my sister said they are expecting some - maybe I'll get snowed in - could do with a week off work!

Has some more last tonight, but the good thing is that the buses were still running, and when I briefly ventured out it wasnt too icy. Unless it snows really badly tonight, it looks like my mum will be able to go out for her birthday. (Which is good because I dont fancy being stuck indoors.)

Keeping my fingers crossed for you garej. Its terrible up here especially in my old hometown. Just heard from my friend who still lives there that it is total mayhem, they have about a foot of snow, all the buses are off and they are running out of grit! This is in a big city near the coast where its almost unheard of to have deep snow. Also the f/cast looks like it could be kicking around for another 2 weeks or more. My worst nightmare Have to brave it this afternoon as am running out of food!

It was down to 6 degrees downstairs in my house today, only 2 degrees above frost temperature! Have been forced to put the heating on for a while today as I'm scared my pipes will burst! If it continues like this may have to take Rosie and myself to stay with my parents for a while On a lighter note, check this out. The Christmas lights switch on in Sunderland which was due to be switched on by Santa with his reindeers was cancelled due to........too much snow!!!!! ;D Now that is a hard one to explain to the kids - how Santa and his sleigh can't travel in the snow! ;D

LOL indeed.
Fortunately the snow was not too bad - we managed to get everywhere. Freezing cold it was - spent half the day not being able to feel my legs! Thought my legs would warm up in the cinema - that was cold too, and sat throughout the whole movie with my gloves, coat and scarf on!
I am still at my parents (for now!) and the temperature guage registered at -6C! However in January they recorded a temperature of -10C! Thankfully there is not too much ice at the moment which is my main worry.

Still terrible here with no sign of stopping. Its about 2 feet deep in some places here and when I stepped out of the door I sank straight in it almost to my knees!
The bloomin stuff gave me a nasty shock today. I went out the back door as I have the front one fortified with curtains and draught excluders in a vain attempt to keep some heat in, so I just took the back door key which is a single key not on a bunch like the others. When I got back my hands were so cold I dropped the key in a flippin snow drift in my garden before I could unlock the door and as it was pitch dark I couldnt find it! Had to borrow neighbours torch and spent ages scrabbling around in the snow with my bare freezing hands trying to find the stupid thing. Eventually found it when I had got the shovel out and dug a few feet of snow up! Relieved is not the word!
Nope snow is not my fav thing at the mo.....

Blimey Claire, that's horrible. We've had snow today but nothing like that. It's supposed to be -7 or something tonight so I'm dreading driving tommorow morning. I can still clearly remember sliding down the road on ice at the beginning of the year.

Sympathy to you all.. We had a slight cover this morning.. Dogs loved it.. But nearly got run over by the postman.... He tried to stop to tell me he had delivered a parcel and couldn't.. He was nearly on the path.... Crikey you don't realise how dangerous it can be. Hope it all goes soon for you all..

Hmmm, that doesn't encourage me to move to Yorkshire Claire!! We've just got the obligatory layer which then freezes! The horses have been in since I hurt my back - going to be great fun when they finally go out (which might be about May at this rate!! ) Thank goodness for those little Halogen heaters, the things are life savers!

Poor you Claire. Think we are officially catching up with you now, it hasn't stopped snowing in last 24 hrs and we now have between 2 and 3 foot of the flippin stuff. Neverseen so much in my life before! Up to my waist at the poor boys, had to dig them an area outside field shelter to stand in/hay on as they were struggling to wade around in it. No pics of boys today as didn't take camera but a few of at at home. Really wish it would just stop... back garden this morning the front - that is just 24hrs worth on my car as we dug it out to use/cleared it yesterday morning - silly pooch - at 13 you'd think she was too old for tuggie and please remember to feed the birdies if you can ...in the hedge you can't tell it's snowing!

Nice pics haffy, I like the bird ones, poor things having to live out in this! Dogs do like the snow don't they - unlike most cats who hate getting their feet cold and wet! Unfortunately despite having 2 digital cameras and 2 phones with cameras I cant take pics of my snow as the only one thats working is the crappy cheap phone which you cant upload pics from to the computer STILL snowing here, everything is disappearing under it. My garden is just a big white blob the only things peeking out from the top of the snow are the shed and the holly tree! Oh forgot to mention, we have had no bins emptied and as they only come every 2 weeks here anyway the rubbish is now starting to accumulate. Happy days!

Look at the amount of snow on top of the bird table I think all wildlife must be having a tough time at the moment. Really good pics, your dog made me smile

Oh dear it seems to be spreading. We have had another day of snow today. Measured how deep it was on my lawn this afternoon (yes I am sad I know) and it was just under 2 feet, with drifts of deeper against walls and things. Had to wear my riding boots to go into the town as they were the only things I had where the snow wouldnt come over the top! Had to plodge into town to get some bird nuts! Shops are empty of bread, milk and fresh food, post isn't going, bins aren't being emptied...the whole place is griding to a halt! Surely it must stop soon....
