It was quite nice on Monday Rosie, snow wasn't too deep & was easy to walk on and looked very pretty. Unfortunately had another snowfall last night and its now deep and misty. Yuk. The donks were cute but they weren't that friendly, may have had something to do with the fact they were more interested in their hay than us!

I love greys tho they are a pain to keep clean! Yep Rosie Mattie is very friendly, altho he used to be very nervous until he came to Andy Crooks from France. But he is very laid back now - tho he does have the odd strange quirk. Mind you food is his main love! He had just won a race a couple of weeks previous to this photo and was 4th in a race a few days later. A while back I was hoping to have a share in him but that was before the recession when I had some money! If anyone interested this is his form and real name: www.racingpost.com/horses/horse_home.sd?horse_id=631792The chestnut (cant remember his name) is also very friendly. The only one of Andy's who is a bit narky is Ryalux who won the Scottish national a few years ago. In fact its amazing how many racehorses are friendly and laid back considering the reputation they have.

Yes, what an amazing horse he was! Mattie is not quite in the same league, tho he's not a bad little chaser.

Morning all, Thought I'd share some pics from my recent visit down to my parents in deepest darkest Dorset. I grew up not far from the New Forest, so they indulged me by taking me for a drive to see some ponies and a pub lunch (I pointed out that this did not make up for my immensely deprived childhood in which I was cruelly not allowed a pony). Lazy lot lolling in the sunshine They were very relaxed to allow me to get so close while they were lying flat out Good old roll to scratch the back This youngster, a yearling I guess, allowed me to get pretty close. New Forest ponies generally have a lovely calm temperament. This may have been the boss mare coming over to check what I was up to- really pretty one I thought.

Thanks for those pics foxglove. They're great. Yes, I like that pic of the grey boss mare she does look very purposeful!
Hopefully I will have some pics of the foals at the National Stud to post here soon. Sadly, it wasnt me who visited but my parents who were in that area for a holiday last week.

Lovely photos. Makes me want to go to the New Forest again.
Would love to go to the National Stud - have been to see the horses on the gallops in the morning but never got around to going to the stud (although did go years and years ago to the open weekend they used to hold November (ish) time.

Loved the line up of Welshies with the hills as a backdrop, don't know if that was the judge's final line up but if so I think number four, that stunning chestnut, was robbed!! ;D

Great minds and all that kunuma....that chestnut was my favourite horse in the whole show. He was absolutely stunning and had an amazing hackney action. I must have been bright green with envy. Also his handler was a bit of alright too ;D I think the bay who was in the larger pic won and chestnut was 3rd. The grey fell pony in the pics was a stunner too. Very fairytale-like. Just needed a horn ;D
The hills behind are called Fremington Edge, they are pretty steep. There was actually a fell race going up there later on in the day. How on earth they managed to run up is beyond me!
