Hi all, as promised a thread for all you anorak types who like me take pics of horses and ponies when you are out and about. Found another one of the gorgeous spotty I saw the other day which really shows the lovely markings off: Saw some donks when I was out riding my bike this afternoon but unfortunately no pic as I had left the memory card from the camera in my dad's card reader Feel free to post yours too.

Ah, I love the Gypsy cob. Still, there's nothing worse than a piebald to groom - all those black hairs on white bits!!

Thats my sort of horse. Could be a she its hard to tell as theres a strategically placed bit of fence in front of him/her ;D
Got my card back for the digi camera and going to see if I can get some pics of these donks that I keep seeing along the cycleway. If they get near enough that is.

There seem to be foals all over the place at the moment - nearly drove into the river looking at some from a bridge today! They all had fly rugs on and looked like a field of multi sized medieval chargers!! ;D Foals and puppies make me so broody!

Don't think the horse in the last picture liked you claire ;D I like the first two pictures best with the horses and the old buildings.

That one sticking its tongue out would make a good candidate for a caption competition. It had just been having a drink actually - thats my excuse anyway.
My friend took the '2 legged horse' pic and also managed to get one that looked like a 2 headed horse as well! ;D
BTW rosie and other old building spotter, the 2 legged horse pic shows the old site of Middleham castle in the background (the clump of trees on a little hillock) that was when it was made of wood and really ancient!

I've been to a couple of steam fairs recently and although I love the old lorries and steam rollers, my fave bit is the heavy horses and I tend to hang around hoping someone needs a hand with them (hasn't happened yet ) An old man tried to sell me his shire last weekend and I was tempted - prob lucky I'm skint ;D

Great pics! I'm a sucker for shires. They have such lovely temperaments and I love all that feather. Isn't the foal huge!

Mine were 'spotted' at my friend's field today and at the stables I used to ride at (so cheating a little bit)! MOTHER (ROAN) AND DAUGHTER ME ENJOYING A RIDE WHILST FRIEND PUSHED BABY IN BUGGY! Some of the riding school horses (BTW they are in a 'holding' paddock prior to being let across the road into the nice field at the end of the day - hence the mud and docks)!!! ANOTHER MOTHER (PALOMINO) AND DAUGHTER COMBINATION! MY OLD FAVOURITE _ 23 YEARS YOUNG ANOTHER OLD FAVOURITE _ 25 NOW! And some photos for any pig lovers out there!

Hats off to the riding school - those horses are in superb condition - how nice to see that! Now you knew I was going to want to know this - that lovely little Welshie palomino which had a roan mum, what colour was dad? And the other pally who had a bigger bay daughter (have I got that right) do you know what colour the bay's dad was? That first photo really made me smile, looks like a 'how many sizes and colours horses come in' illustration from an Observer Book of Horses!! Oh forgot - are they Gloucester Old Spots?? Please tell me they are someone's pets and not for you know what!

The welsh palomino had a palomino father. The bay's dad was bay as well - the full brother is a lovely dark dun colour - will try to find a photo.
The big palomino has a sister - but she never had foals.
The dun, chestnut and palomino all had the same father (part arab palomino) out of bay, chestnut and chestnut parents respectively.
The pigs - not sure what breed they were as the owner of the farm/stables was away.
