Hi all, Just to let you know that due to personal reasons I do not feel up to moderating this forum any longer, especially in light of recent problems we have been having. I will be getting an acquaintance to moderate for me. They will take no part in the forum except for making sure that rules are followed and deleting offending posts. All queries can be directed to them. I will still administrate the forum.

Very sorry about this Claire, I've always thought this forum was very good natured and friendly compared to some! You'll still be around, right?

Thanks folks. Snowfilly I will still be posting and admin-ing but I don't think I am mod material. I get too personally involved and worry about things too much and whether I will offend anyone! As we say up north 'soft as clarts' ;D
I just want to come on here to chat to friends not have to worry about anything.

Hi everyone, I am Mickey, your new mod for the forum. I am helping out for a while as Claire is finding it a bit stressful at the moment. I am not at all horsified and will not be taking part in the forum at all you may be pleased to hear lol. I have moderated a computing forum before so I know what it is all about. My only job will be to make sure all posts and members follow the forum rules, and to delete anything which does not, etc, and also if you have any queries about anything to do with rules, moderation, karma and so on please direct them to me, for all other issues contact Claire as normal. Because I am quite busy I will only be visiting the forum 2 or 3 times a week to moderate so if I don't reply to messages immediately that is why. A few ground rules:- 1. If you haven't already read the forum rules please do so as I will be following them closely when moderating. 2. If you take offence at any post, if it breaks forum rules please PM me and let me know, if not please either ignore it or explain your grievance to the poster in a non-abusive manner. 3. Please do not give karma (either negative or positive) indiscriminately, but only when you feel it is really necessary. 4. If you have any complaints about moderation, karma and so on, as I said before please direct them to me NOT Claire, as I will be able to deal with matters in a more impersonal way as I do not know any of you! Best wishes to you all

Think Claire has plenty of moral courage myself. Seems to me she's always alerted people when she thinks their posts are a little confrontational/offensive/unacceptable.

Hi Mickey we must sound like a mad bunch to you.
Konstanze I think you're being a bit harsh on Claire, she has worked really hard on the forum to try and keep EVERYONE happy. I am shocked at what you have just wrote, was it really necessary?

Welcome mickey, I hope you find it ok here.
Please people, just respect mickey and also Claire's decision. Claire has enough to deal with at the moment, and I know how hard it is to lose a pet. I am not going to point fingers at anyone (it's not my place) but either keep your feelings to yourself, or take it up with mickey. Whichever of the two is more appropriate. Life is hard enough for Claire without this becoming a playground. The last thing we need is for Claire to say "sod it all" and close the forum. If we are not too careful, that will happen, which will be a crying shame.

Thanks for those who have words of support. Garej you are spot on. the reason I asked Mickey to help out was that the alternative was saying soditall and closing it. However I thought it was worth trying to salvage things and attempt to get things back to their old friendly state for the sake of all the members who have enjoyed it here over the past year and a half. I started this as a fun way to 'meet' people who were interested in the same things and to have a bit of a laugh, chat and the odd quiz, etc. It was supposed to be some stress-free time for me and like-minded people. But then lately it has caused even more stress in my already stress-filled (at the moment) life and for others too This is our last chance to get things back to normal so please all give it a go.

Konstanze! That was not needed... Claire has been a brilliant mod since I started on this (and before!) and possibly the thing that makes her so great is that shes friendly and actually seems to be interessted in what we all have to say! Like Garej said, she can easily just close the forum and then what would we do?

For the last time there is not a function on this bloomin forum to switch off karma or if there is I havent found it!
I have deleted the other thread because things were getting too personal. We were both wrong to bring personal circumstances into the matter konstanze. Unlike you I am not comfortable with the entire world being able to see what is going on in my life so please if you have things to say to me PM or email me.

For the last time there is not a function on this bloomin forum to switch off karma or if there is I havent found it! I see the offending threads have now been rmoved but they were down right out of order, period. Claire you do a great job and welcome mickey, i'm sure you will do a great job too, I'm just sorry it has had to come this. And Claire I'm with you on this one, I cannot see how it would be switched off either, maybe that is subscription paying proboards forums that are being referred to...I assume you also have the freebie ;D )

Thanks haffy. BTW of course I have the freebie! ;D I find it quite hard to administrate and find things on the board, it is not very sensibly set out. Took me ages to work out how to get Mickey on as a mod! Also I seem to have a problem with the clock which is always fixed at GMT no matter what I change the setting to.

I think we have to individually change our clocks to our own area time? Ceej sorts out all our admin stuff as she has got the admin catorgries sussed, including adding new smileys etc (just a show off really! )

I'm getting karma on the brain with all this talk about it, and I hadn't even thought about the thing before, it doesn't help that now I can't get that Boy George song out of my head - you know, the one about chameleons! On wondering the origin of the whole thing before it got nobbled by computer forums, I found this - actually made a lot of sense >>>>>>Karmic Retribution is not about bringing "suffering", but bringing "realisation", and the job of the Karmic Lords is not to dish out punishment, but to show us how to avoid it. The way that this is done is to put us in a position where we really "feel" what others have felt at the hands of ourselves. There is no greater learning than that of a total experience first hand.<<<<<< To go into the origin of the whole concept deeply appears to involve this religion that so many pop stars such as Madonna are into, so I don't think I'll bother with any more research - no doubt you are all relieved to hear that!! Can't you tell I've finished my OU course and need a new subject to mull over! ;D

I don't understand the Karma thing, why do I keep getting low ones? What happened to Konstanze? Has she been removed from the board? I noticed all her posts have gone. I've been away for a weekend, it seems a lot has happened.
