Rallycairn gets the prize as that was the bit I meant having just read it the day before.
Missed the other one you refer to though.

:-[I've been pronouncing Shantih wrong all these years, it is 'Shahn-tee' not 'Shan-tuh'. As a kid it bothered me that I wasn't sure how to say it, the 'Shahn-tee' pronunciation did occur to me but I stuck with the other out of habit. Oh for the internet back then!

Gosh, I always said, "Shahn-tie" to myself, after first wondering if it were, "Shan" (rhymes with "tan") -- tie. But I never considered "tee" for the second syllable. So it is Shahn -tee then?
I remember seeing a 1970's TV program (and no way am I admitting which one) in which a yogi type was chanting "Shantih, shantih, peace, peace" while doing one of those "I can climb an electrified fence and it doesn't hurt me" stunts and he pronounced it Shahn-tie so that's probably where I got it. What a source lol!
I'm pretty set in my ways and I bet I have trouble mentally correcting myself! Either way it's a beautiful name.

I normally get the wrong pronounciation but with Shantih I got it right for once! Strangely, I recently found out that both me and kunuma pronounced the Silver Brumby's daughter as kunuma with a 'u' and not an a as it is actually spelt, hence kunuma spelling her forum name with a u.

I loved these as a 13 yr old! Pleased to hear they're set near where I live! I always thought they were somewhere glamorous!

I neither love nor hate them. I haven't read them all. I like all the characters greatly but in Gallop to the Hills I found the 'animal experiments' line rather disappointing. It didn't seem like a very convincing explanation of why someone would keep wolves in their estate, it wasn't explained in enough detail for my liking and felt almost like a cheap gimmick.

Hi Shantih Arabian nice to see you on here again, it's fitting that she is THE Shantih, I can't imagine a mare more like the original, and also how I imagined her to be.
