These are the ones made of latex (as opposed to plastic). They still make them today, using the same production methods they used in the 1950s. Most of the dates are approximate, because they produced a few over a number of years, and they are hard to identify. Julips in the 1970s do have an date letter in their mouth, but sometimes it is hard to identify then because a lot them have hardened mouths over the years (meaning you cant open their mouths to have a look and the date letter is painted inside the mouth). Some dates are from when the original owner purchased them, or when I purchased them.
In the 1990s they started naming then - before then they came as pictured on a basic pricelist such as "piebald show pony - £5" rather than giving them basic names. So a few are nameless because of that, and others are from the last 5 years but didnt come straight from the catalogue, so any suggestions welcome.
So here goes (the mould/breed is in brackets)
Arabella (Arab Champion, mould still available now, date unknown because they produced this model both in the 1980s and 1990s)
Corona (Child's Hunter, 1960s)
Candy (Child's Jumping Pony - mould available still now - produced sometime between 2005-2007)
Unnamed (Cob Mare - mould still available now - dates from 1978 as she has a letter inside her mouth)
Tick-Tock (Cob Stallion - mould still available now - produced sometime between 2005-2007)
Unnamed (Dartmoor - mould still available now - unknown date)
Unnamed (Eventer - mould still available now - 2008. I phoned Julip up myself and asked specifically for this colour scheme)
Chess - name inspired by the Woodbury Pony Club series by JPT (Farm Cob - note similarities between Cobweb, Conker, and Harlequin in the previous post as they used the same mould! Produced sometime between 1997-1999. Available both in the same mould in both the plastic and latex ranges)
Ebony (catalogue name, foal mould, mould still available now. Produced sometime between 2005-2008)
Spike (Highland, produced sometime during the 1980s)
Unnamed (hunter - mould still available now - produced 2008. Like the Eventer above, I phoned Julip up and asked for this specific colour scheme)
Hamish (Icelandic - dates from 1968)
Drummer (Irish Draught - dates from 2006. Mould still available now - named after the horse in K M Peyton's Flambards series)
Postie Claude (Jumping Pony. Note: jump did not come with him, but is a genuine 1960s Julip jump. Dates from 1974 and very rare.)
Unnamed (Lippizaner - mould still available now. Produced sometime during 2005-2007)
Unnamed (Moorland - produced either 1960s or 1970s. Quite rare)
Mimosa (New Forest, mould still available now. Named after the mare in DPT's Sandy and Fergus series. Produced sometime during 2005-2007)
Barney (Pit Pony, mould still available now. Unknown when he produced as they started first producing the pit pony in the late 1970s, but he is not that old, I think he dates from 2004/2005)
Tess (this mould was first known as the Welsh Pony mould, then in the 1980s they changed the name to the Pony Mare Mould. This one would have originally been sold as a Welsh Pony because she has a letter B in her mouth, which means that she dates from 1972)
Misty (same mould, no date letter, but later as was bought in the early 1980s, so would have been known by the name of Pony Mare)
Savanna. (Shetland, cant open her mouth to check if there is a date letter but the original owner told me she bought her in the early-mid 1970s, and it was still available then)
Unnamed. (Show Pony, dates from 1960s)
Unnamed (Show Pony, dates from 1975)
Flame (Catalogue name, Welsh Cob Mould, mould still available. Dates from 2005)
Oliver (catalogue name, Welsh Cob mould. You can still buy this model. Dates from 2007 to present day. Unfortunately I didnt buy him brand new so I dont know how old he is, but he cant be that old)
Tomos (Welsh Pony, dates from 1969. Very rare - only 2 known to exist and the other one was partially rebuilt, so mine is the only one left in original condition)
Merlen Teg (catalogue name, Welsh Pony, mould still available. Dates from 2007. Sorry for crappy pictures, but my camera is not the best. You can see the colour better in the rug photo. Rug made by me!)
Chequers (yearling, mould still available. Named because I wanted something to go with Chess. Produced 1998-2001, but probably produced in either 1998 or 1999, as came with Chess, and probably bought together).
