These are the Julip horses I have got. They differ from the ones I will be putting in part 2 because firstly they mostly come with names and secondly, they are made out of plastic (as opposed to latex) and are no older than 1989. All the names are catalogue names unless specified. Ginger Black Diamond (still available brand new) Conker Cobweb (still available brand new) Harlequin Unnamed (one of the few ones that came without a name because they didn't bother naming the early ones, so suggestions welcome, though it has to spice/herb related) Pepper (again, one of the ones that were originally unnamed) Cinnamon (again, one of the ones that were originally unnamed) Midnight (one of the ones to feature in Sundance Saves the Day by CPT) Silver Cloud Goldie Toffee Jigsaw (another picture. Unfortunately Julip riders dont sit that well unless they are the really old ones made out of latex, and this one is a plastic one) Banner Moondance (again, excuse the bad looking rider) Mulligan Tornado Bay Beauty 50th Anniversary Palomino Bob the Cob Topaz Sundance (one of the ones that are featured in CPT's Sundance Saves the Day) Mousie Black Velvet (headcollar and leadrope made by me) Silver Moon Starlight Bedsocks Freddie (modelled after the pony that used to appear in Horse and Pony Magazine) I will put up a separate post for the ones made out of latex, some of which dates from the 1960s.

Thanks you two.
Either Silver Moon or Silver Cloud (I always get confused between those two) was featured in Sundance Saves the Day by CPT but I cant check. I think it was Silver Moon. Unfortunately neither one of them is pictured on the cover.
I forgot to say that the tack is genuine Julip tack, except for the Western set and the saddlecloth on Ginger (that is a breyer one).

When you say they were fetured in the book... did the author write about them or were they the childrens toys or something? Or is it a movie you made or something (sorry im a bit slow today) Pretty horses tho!

When you say they were fetured in the book... did the author write about them or were they the childrens toys or something? Julip is a company producing model horses. The plastic range is primarily aimed at children (aged 3 and up) but are equally collected by adults. In 1997-2002 (could be 2003, but I have a 2002 catalogue here) Julip sold a book by CPT called Sundance Saves the Day. This was based on 4 horses (Jigsaw, Sundance, Midnight and either Silver Moon or Silver Cloud) and their corresponding riders which were available at the time. You could only buy Sundance Saves the Day through their catalogue (ever since they started, and even today they produce a catalogue) and not available through shops (as opposed to all her other books being available in good bookshops). That makes it harder to find than many of her other books, and as a consequence not many people know it exists. Here is a cover scan:-

Oh right I understand now! Thanks Have you read it? Yes, it is not too bad as far as CPT books go, but a lot of sentences read wrong. But some of it is not down to Christine herself, but Julip. For example the horses live in the "julip yard" so Christine tends to say that rather than the "stable yard" or words to that effect. Also the name like Silver Moon (or Silver Cloud) makes the whole context of the sentence/situation wrong. Also, it's probably a personal thing, but Julip horses (well the plastic ones, the latex ones can) cant bend, so to me the horse's behaviour seems strange because you cant exactly recreate it in a Julip photostory later on. It would work better if Christine had a say in the naming of horses, but she didnt, and all in all, it's a lot better tie-in effort than the Follyfoot Pony Quiz book (that contains very little Follyfoot references). If someone could please take a look at Part 2, you may gain some ideas for names for the horses who are otherwise unnamed! Also, I just realised I made a mistake, it is Mulligan pictured above, not Bay Beauty. Mulligan and Bay Beauty are two I get confused over, basically the same colour, except Mulligan has two socks and Bay Beauty none. I have added a crappy shot of Bay Beauty too.

If you are after a copy of Sundance Mysteryarab it might be worth trying Christines daughter Charlotte who runs the publishing company cavalier as she did have some copies although they are not on the website. I don't get the Julip models at all...they are really ugly to me and not real looking what so ever. Some of the breyer ones are okay in realistic terms but I still don't get it.

Have you looked at the latex ones (marketed as originals) as opposed to the plastic ones? Generally they are better looking than the plastic ones.
