You teach them to lie in neat row like sardines! Mine have to learn not to move when they are stepped over, then you walk on the bits of bare floor inbetween!! ;D

Well tonight Rosie is in the horsebox ( she prefers being outside), Diesel is in with the kids as she will try and fight other dogs and Tasha is in with us. It's funny, I have very little space but can always manage to squeeze one more in. I have got a great pic of Pumble in the christmas tree will upload it soon to show you all.

Does he climb up it? Mine did when they were kittens (and knocked it down a few times too) and Rosie even used to curl up on the branches and go to sleep! Wish i had a photo of that.

He's obsessed - climbs up it and attacks baubles. It's only a small tree but he loves it

OMG, that was so much worse than I was expecting - I thought because it was supposed to be garden fireworks that it would be a firework display with bangs and that I could calm them down between the bangs, I wasn't prepared for the non stop fusillade of bangs, nor for how close they were, it even scared me. The horses didn't have a chance to stop panicking, my little one ran straight into the wire fence and came down hard because the ground is so frozen - her rug saved her side. I was torn between staying with the horses and trying somehow to stop the people continuing to let them off, though from the absolute riot going on, I knew that it would probably make them worse. Naively I also was not expecting them to point them in this direction, only as the first one came down two feet from me did I realise what they were doing. If I wasn't already under orders to move, my new year's resolution would be to get what is left of the poor horses out of here before this ever happens again!

OMG...that's just horrible!!! Isn't it illegal where you are? It's totally illegal in Massachusetts for any individual to use fireworks....only professionals, only with city/town approval and supervision and only in contained/safe areas...certainly not pointing towards anything....let alone residential/farm areas!!!
Hope there are no lasting effects from the ordeal.....I expect they'll all be shaking for days in any case...... :-(

I am fuming on your behalf kunuma. I cant believe they would be so callous as to actually point them in your direction. Even if they didnt understand/care about animlas surely if they were decent people they would have listened to their neighbour's pleas not to let them off. The swear filter on the forum stops me saying what I really think of them!
Hope the poor ponies have calmed down a bit.

I feel sorry for you, my Tigger freaked out at the fireworks come November 5. Trouble is that they started at 4 pm and didn't stop until 10 pm. That went on all week too I hope the ponies are not too seriously damaged, I believe fireworks should be made illegal. It's not animals that suffer, it's people too. The media say about the elderly and ex-servicemen, but they forget about people with autism - I got stressed over the fireworks on TV, so it must have been even worse with you worrying about several ponies

Thanks for your support - I was ready to condemn the whole human race last night as being way overdue for extinction - but you remind me that although seemingly a dying species, there are still decent people out there. I have a very lame pony today, hopefully just bruising on the hip she landed on, she even has scrapes on her side despite the rug, it actually could have been much worse though, as looking at where she fell, her speed as she hit the fence meant that one hoof had gone clean under the fence - and she could have been trapped! My worst fear had been that they would try and jump the fence, which is stock fencing and so has two strands of barbed wire on the top - (probably a result of reading My Friend Flicka at an impressionable age!) Someone else said on here about the tragedies in pony books making us worry about our own - I think they may have a point there I will say no more about the pond scum responsible, as I should probably be arrested for premeditated manslaughter! Especially as I managed to fall over as well so am feeling as sore as the poor pony!

Poor you kunuma. I know how you feel as I used to have a dog who was terrified of fireworks too and it's awful watching them so scared. I hope your pony recovers soon

Thats awful. I actually cant believe they would do that, im discusted. Take up a legle battle and take loads of pictures of injuries and stuff and sue their asses off! Either that or put a firework up their drainpipe. My dad did that once (when he was young obviously) and it gives them a right shock! Serves them right, they can feel what the poor ponies were feeling like! I hope they recover soon- and you!
