I'm posting from Chincoteague Island, Virginia! I'm here because I had to finalize my purchase of a Chincoteague pony! And I just went by the Beebe farm, where Misty lived much of her life. More later!
Happy to post pics later if that is possible.

I realized even if I can't post my own pictures, I can link to those already online! www.dscphotography.net/2020/2020-Foals/Doves-FillyI love the series of photos, about halfway down the page, where her dam, Courtney's Island Dove, tells young wannabe stud CLG Tomorrow's Tidewater Twist (the buckskin pinto, he's 3 years old) to GET LOST in no uncertain terms (he did)! And the expression on my little girl's face is like, "Mama said go away!" In the pictures near the bottom, she is trying to entice first Grandma's Dream's buckskin to play, then when that didn't work, Leah's Bayside Angel's bay pinto. In these photos, the dams and late born foals have been rounded up and are at the Carnival Grounds pastures, and in the earlier photos, she's out feral on the refuge on Assateague. (There are spring and fall roundups for vaccs [as appropriate] and health checks, in addition to the famous "Pony Penning" roundup in July.) The buckskin is a little older than she is, and a colt -- and she's a bit taller. I am so happy with her conformation and size potential -- I spent a lot of time learning the bloodlines and picked one with potential for size. Hopefully she'll finish around 14 hands, because I plan on her being a riding pony for me!

Thank you Trixie! I have become so absorbed not just in my own girl, but also in following the Chincoteague herd as a whole - the different studs and their bands, foal watch for newborns, which stallions and mares have conformation I like, etc. And the other pony fans are so nice and welcoming.
I have been to the islands twice now. The local museum of course has a whole Misty section, and I have seen her hoof prints in the concrete sidewalk in front of the theater where the movie premiered, her statue at waterfront park, the inn where Marguerite Henry stayed while writing Misty, the Carnival Grounds where the Pony Penning takes place. Spent hours on the water on a pontoon boat watching the fall roundup for health checks (refuge is closed for that, so the only way to see it is from the water, and all the boat captains share spotting tips about which band has been seen and so on.)

Thanks for the pics Rally: lovely photos and a beautiful filly. I've always had a soft spot for skews (pintos) since Domino, the PMBL 'mascot'. What an adventure you've had! Great to see the pics and hear of your exploits, being stuck indoors in another Covid lockdown, it's really brightened my day.

Thank you, darkhorse! It's pretty exciting indeed, not just because she's a great foal in my eyes, but also because of all the pony literature connections. I can't believe I waited so long to visit Chincoteague for the first time! So glad I finally did -- it's a quietly lovely place.

So beautiful rally! When do you bring her home?
I have friends who have camped there with their daughters a couple of times, and they've loved it....I still haven't made it myself.

It will be 3 months or more before she comes home! sarah and susanb, I hope you get to visit some day! I really love it.

I hope so too :-) My pony book obsession started when my granny gave me a big box full of my aunt's old pony books - included were lovely HBs of Misty and Stormy (alongside a load of Armada PBs and many more). The illustrations were just beautiful and I was captivated by the stories.

Sarah, I have the hardbacks of Misty and Stormy with the lovely illustrations too, they really are exquisite.
Looking forward to hearing more about your exploits and your new foal, rally.
