Hi Kunuma thanks for your list. I'm sorry to hear you're having internet problems. It seems to be pretty widespread across the board since the lockdown. I've had a few connection probs myself.
It's interesting that so many people are reading Ponies in Peril. I read it myself recently for my revenge mastermind specialist subject which Sarah was kind enough to do for me. It would be fun if everyone who read it had a go at the questions too.

LOL, I had a look at the questions and, even having just read the book, I'd have failed miserably. For me, its from the books I read over and over as a kid that I remember the tiny details

Well not a very good start - I'm afraid all four Bracken House ones get a frownie - if I wanted to read about marriage love and babies I'd read Mills and Boon! Intrigued by one aspect - is the author frightened of dogs or something, very odd attitude towards dogs it seemed. Anyway on to next one which is a reread - No Entry, this will take me longer to read as I have to reread the entire series and read it in it's correct place!!

Oh dear Kunuma, I must say I shyed away from reading the continuation of the Bracken series, despite liking the original series a lot, when I saw the marriage and babies sub-plots! But I suppose we are in the maiden aunt category, I think the auhthor is aiming for the younger reader who is still into that sort of thing! Haven't had much of a chance to read lately, house renovations in full swing and due to lack of money and lack of workforce through covid, have had to muck in myself a lot - so too knackered to do much but fall into bed at night lately!

Thanks Susan. Itβs not easy. Shovelling rubble and filling it in bags itβs not my idea of fun haha. But the worst is about over now so hopefully by next week I can get on with reading again!

SMILEY for No Entry by Monica Edwards. Excellent story and easy to follow for someone who hasn't read any other of the series. Really glad i bought the ggbp edition so I was able to appreciate the full text.

Yes, huge smiley for No Entry for me too, I have never read the hardback - now I'm hoping I can find it on Kindle eventually. I'm noticing not all of the paperbacks are different from the hardbacks - we need a list of the ones that are!!

Kunuma, I think all of the Armada paperbacks are abridged, not sure about the Fontanas though. Glad to hear you enjoyed No Entry Garej. Normally I'm quite OCD about reading series in order but this series, and the Romney Marsh books, are the exception.

I tried to read Wish for a Pony years ago but failed. I have nearly all the ggb Romney Marsh books. Missed out on The White Riders but managed to pick up a first edition cheap. Got the Collins Crown edition of The Summer of the Great Secret but my copy of Wish for a Pony is the Children's Press one. Otherwise my series is complete bar what ggb have yet to publish.

Started on Jump to the Stars by Gillian Baxter. Am enjoying it and I am two thirds of the way through - which is more than I managed for the Winter reading challenge.

Finished Jump to the Stars by Gillian Baxter and would give it a SMILEY. I have nearly all the rest of the series (don't have the modern ones) so I would definitely read some more.
I am not sure which one I will tackle next since I only have 2 books left. Probably A Pony For Jean.

A SMILEY for A Pony for Jean. Started it in the early hours and just finished it. I didn't remember much of the story so I don't know if the 1970s paperback has been edited heavily but I read the hotkeys edition. Anyway it was a throughly enjoyable book.

You're going great guns Garej! Would you like to add any more books to your list? Well I finally have time to get back into the challenge now, due to being at a hiatus with the house renovations. Doubt I'll finish all the books though! I've managed to add some rosettes to people's lists. They are a little large due to technical difficulties caused by Pooboards only allowing you to add three attachments to a post. But at least they are there! Congrats to everyone who has earned rosettes so far.

SMILEY for The Deep Sea Horse. It was nearly an neutral but it picked up sufficiently to warrant a smiley. Least favourite of all the Primrose Cumming books I have read so far.
Yes I would like to add more books if that's ok with you Claire. Not sure which ones yet though.

No worries Haffy, I totally understand. I doubt I could read anything about cats since losing Mischief so I know how you feel. Just take care of yourself x

Like Claire said dont stress yourself. I didnt read anything for ages last year due to losing my cat. I was due to read Full Steam Ahead Felix but I couldn't read anything about cats. Still not read Full Steam Ahead Felix.

Smiley, please, for Touch the Moon. More a novella than a novel, but really, really charming.
I didn't think I'd like it much, I got it in a lot with other books, and it's been lurking in the tbr pile for years till the need for a fantasy book for the challenge arose. Yet again, the challenge has led me to a new fave!

Although I am not posting rosettes out this year I have decided to offer postcards instead. It's far less risky as I only have to walk to the letterbox which is a 2 min walk from where I am. I have the correct stamps for overseas postcards (am a member of postcrossing) already so I don't have to negotiate the post office. I know it's not quite the same as a rosette but hopefully next year I will be able to post out the rosettes.

Ah that's really nice of you Garej, but only as long as you feel comfortable and safe going out.
Susan, glad to hear you have discovered a new fave - always a great feeling. What was it about?
Well I finally got Dream Pony by Constance M. White finished. It didn't take ages because it was bad, I've just been too busy and tired to read much in the last couple of weeks. Anyway, it was a nice charming read. I like that it turned the age-old pony book 'thieving gypsy' cliche on its head by making the heroine a gypsy girl and looking at things from her viewpoint. The 'Gorgio' (no-Gypsy) characters are made to see the error of their ways when they see them as scoundrels and wastrels, and a close friendship develops between our heroine and a Gorgio boy. A pleasant feel good read with a happy ending.

Claire I have been posting postcards through postcrossing so I am ok going to the postbox. It's just the post office that's potentially problematic due to lack of buses.

I have started Full Steam Ahead Felix. It's ok so far but it's not grabbing me. I don't know if it's because it's not as well written as Felix the Railway Cat or due to the subject matter as I originally bought it last year before losing my cat. Even though I know both Felix and Bolt are alive so therefore there shouldn't be any death in it I am not enjoying it. So far it's an neutral but I am less than halfway through so it may pick up.

I have finished Full Steam Ahead Felix and despite what I said in a previous post it deserves a SMILEY. It picked up.and I enjoyed it. Also there was a death in it but it was human rather than feline.
Not sure what I am going to read next though.

SMILEY for The Little White Horse - love that book!
Wish I could find a hidden village that isn't swarming with holiday makers. I won't rant on here, but suffice to say I have never seen such filth and such disgusting behaviour as this year's influx has brought! Will now have to find my list for the next one.

Claire, Touch the Moon is a-typical wish-fulfillment - girl wishes for a horse for her birthday, and gets a china figure of a horse and a note that she's signed up to begin riding lessons. The china horse was her Dad's in his youth, and is, of course, magic. It turns into a real, live stallion. A snarky, self-absorbed, vain stallion.....not exactly the "Pretty Girl" horse of our protagonist's dreams. Short and really charming.....in googling the author's name (Marion Dane Bauer), I discovered that she's also had a Newbery Honor winner
Here's a link to book info on her website:
