Hi all, was wondering, as some of us may have a lot of time on our hands and would like something to help relieve boredom, if anyone would like to revive the Pony Book Mastermind competition for 2020. If anyone is interested please post here and if I have enough members wanting to take part I will get the comp organised.

Hi folks just bumping the post as I think it got lost a little (I have 'stickied' it at the top of the section now). I need one or two more names to make it worthwhile setting up the Mastermind quiz.

Yes I would be interested again, seeing I am well and truly locked down, so much so that I had to reactivate my passwords!

Just thought - is there some way everyone playing can work together to put together some questions for you, Claire, so you can play too?

Hi folks thanks to all who have expressed an interest. As we have a few names now I will get the competition organised and start a thread in the next day of two.
Sarah - great idea - a few years back the forum members did do something like that and set up questions for me. I think you lot called it something like Mastermind The Revenge lol.

Yikes, I'd forgotten about the specialist subject!
I went back and looked at what I'd done in previous Masterminds, and I think I've toasted most of my expertise already, the only thing left that I can think of (that you'll already have) is National Velvet, so that's it!
Claire, btw, I looked at your page for Bagnold, and I have a bunch of covers that you don't have, I can email them to you, if you like?

Just in case folk have forgotten the Mastermind format, there are 2 rounds, first a general knowledge round and then a specialist subject round.
The specialist subject can be a particular book, series or author, or even something like heavy horses/Arabs in pony books, whatever you like.
If everyone who would like to take part can post their specialist subjects here that would be best. I'll be setting up the general knowledge round in the next couple of days on a dedicated thread. As I don't have every single horse and pony book in the known world ! (and quite a few of mine are still in storage at the mo) I'd be grateful if you could choose say 3 possibles and list them in order of preferance, hopefully I'll have the books to construct questions for at least one of your suggestions.
By the way if you would like to check on what specialist subjects you have done in the past, don't forget to check out the Mastermind sub-category within the Quizzes and Games section.

Haven't checked what i've done before but off top of head Woodbury PC books, Eventers or Stars trilogy, pony books with Highlands (?), Phantom horse series. Will see what others choose, i guess if we can double up in any way it makes it easier on you x

I had Jinny series as a past Mastermind specialist subject. Would it be OK if I picked non-Jinny Patricia Leitch books as this years subject, as I know you have all the books!

Struggling to know what I should put as my specialist subject, I am reading the Jinny books at the moment and it wasn't that long ago I read the Eventing trilogy. I have the Bobby books, and a buch of australian pony books that I think Claire my not be able to find to source my questions.

Trixie - you could simply choose Australian Pony Books as your specialist subject as I do have quite a few, although probably nowhere near as many as you! Otherwise Jinny books or Eventing Trilogy would be fine. Darkhorse - Pat Leitch books would be an excellent choice. I do indeed have all the books except for Rosette for Royal.

Oh gosh - my brain cells are going to get a serious workout with the general knowledge round. Gulp. Do you have the showing series (Caroline Akrill)? Have read those fairly recently (Kindle) and they are quite short to reread as a refresher!! Otherwise I will see what I can dig out from cupboard :-)
