Found "Team Spirit" in a charity shop. I am afraid I am not warming to the young ladies of Chestnut Hill - they are horribly bratty, there are too many to keep up with and they have silly names. I am on page 42 of 162 and feel this will be a trial, a book only to red while waiting for the micro-wave to finish. Hard to believe this is by the same author who did the engaging Heartland series. It's not badly written and I could take the lack of depth if the characters were just a bit more appealing

I read the pink one (first one?), it didn't inspire me to try anymore.
Never fancied Heartland either, i did own a few for a while but never read them or don't reacall doing so anyhow, although i'm told the tv series is quite good?

I've read a few Heartland books. They are not bad. Much better than this. Quite a bit of Veterinary stuff - very keen on massage for horses. Much more mature dialogue and relationships.

I have read some off the Chestnut Hill books and fond them ok not keepers but ok, the same with the Heartland books I have gotten the TV series from my local Liberty, I liked it better then the books. at first there more horse based but as the series go in its more family focused.

I found Chestnut Hill pretty awful - everything I don't like about modern pony series: obsession with money and status, full of snidey teenage girls, etc. I agree Tintin that it's a far cry from Heartland (though a lot of people didn't like that either) which had a lot of warmth and was centred around caring for horses rather than winning and the like. Haven't seen the TV series yet. It's on Netflix at the moment if anyone has that.
