Hi Bindy. I am trying to get new books on kindle but three years after getting hooked by an old armada found clearing my parents house I now have many books I had as a child in early hardbacks and am now beginning to branch out and catch up on things I missed last time and some of the new ones.

Hi, my name is Penelope. And though I'm 'getting on', I still enjoy some re-reading of my favorite horse and pony books. I'm in the U.S.A., and we tend to call them horse books here, but I kind of like the term pony books...
I recently branched out and bought a British pony book, one of the ones Jane Badger has republished, Six Ponies and am reading that now on my Kindle. Though I wish it had been available in the Kobo bookstore as I prefer my Kobo device because of the larger screen. Old eyes. I'm enjoying it so far, though the first chapter had me a bit dubious. Now I'm finding it rather hilarious!
Anyway, I've got a fair collection of various horse and pony books sitting on the shelves, mostly with the American slant, naturally, but a few from the UK.

Hi and a very warm welcome. If you enjoy Six Ponies you're in for a treat as the other books in the series are also great. Since starting the forum I have met quite a few American pony/horse book lovers and it prompted me to start reading American horse stories, mainly of which I love.
Hope you enjoy visiting the chat the forum!

Thanks! I just finished Six Ponies this morning and I DID really enjoy it, in spite of what initially and mostly looked to be a total trainwreck of pony training, LOL!
I may well get the others after a bit. I wish someone in the US was doing what Jane Badger is managing! I grew up reading a lot of Patsey Gray's books from the library, would be great to see her work available as ebooks! Or Dorothy Lyons. I picked the bay foal as avatar because it reminded me of the cover of Java Jive.
I've gotten some reading of rare books through the Open Library. And I persuaded a relative to buy me the Fidra copy of Silver Snaffles for Christmas one year.

Hello, thruppence here, a Brit living in the USA (Kentucky/Ohio border). Had a Welsh cob x New Forest growing up in the UK and two American mares in the US: A Saddlebred and a Quarter Horse x TB. Currently horse less and reading the pony books I missed as a kid (Jill and The Heron series.) Loved Monica Edwards, the PTs, J M Berrisford, Patricia Leitch, Monica Dickens, Elyne Mitchell, Marguerite Henry, Anna Sewell (of course).

Hi Thruppence, welcome aboard! I'm in the US too, in Massachusetts, but a native rather than an ex-pat Back when I started collecting, I was after nicer editions of the tatty, loved-to-death paperbacks from my childhood, as well as those I'd had out of the library but never owned. Then I found out just how many authors I'd missed growing up...warning, it can turn into quite a hobby (but so much fun )

Hello Thruppence welcome to the forum! That's very interesting being an ex-pat Brit living in the USA. I wonder if that gives you a rather unique perpective on British and American horse books..? Anyhow there are both Brits and Americans (and many others!) here and we'll all be interested in getting to know you
