Hi all, I recently visited the southern part of Ireland where I was lucky enough to see a very rare breed of pony - the Kerry Bog Pony. This was almost extinct a few years ago until someone began a breeding programme, which eventually saved the breed. I visited the actual place where they started breeding them and saw a few there. They're very small, about the size and similar to Welsh although I think more placid lol. Thought you all would like to see pics of them. I've included a link to the wikipedia page about them in case you like to know more. I'd never even heard of them til I visited County Kerry. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kerry_Bog_Pony

I had never heard of them until I read this. But I had a colleague who brought what she called an Irish Bog Dog home from her holiday in Ireland. Looked like a border collie mainly Iirc. Love the way one has more mane than ears.

I'd never heard of them before either until I went to Ireland and just by chance visited this place and saw them there. Travel certainly does broaden the horizons.
