As i've been away for so long, I think I owe you a few updates on Buster, especially as you all managed to convince me to rescue him all those years ago (it will be five years in September!!)
He's great! Still a handful as always but that's just how he'll always be, and how I love him. He was a fantastic last summer, we did really well in some bigger showjumping classes, and he even managed to win a overall Working Hunter championship. He also qualified for a dressage championship, but we didn't bother going as it was very expensive to stable him (and me!) plus, i'm more into jumping.
When I went back to uni, he became Mum's horse! Bare in mind my poor Mum had barely ridden in 30 years... but she pampers him to the extreme and hacks him out, and does a bit of schooling with him. I come home at weekends, and we hunted a full season this year, every Saturday (occasionally twice a week, as he got fitter towards the end!) As you can imagine he was incredibly fit after all that! I wouldn't say he's an ideal hunt horse, in fact he's a total pain really, but he seems to enjoy it (and so do I!). Since the season's ended i've been focusing on my uni work and so he's been having a bit of time off. Whenever I get the chance to ride he's always full of energy and acts really naughty, but never mind! As soon as my work is done, the plan is to do a bit of showing/working hunter over summer! Also maybe a few hunter trials, theres practically one every week, I keep meaning to go but i've not had the time to but the work into him yet! I'm convincing Mum to take me to a show on Monday, just to get him back into it! Anyway, here's a few snaps from end of summer- present! Ignore my face, I can't seem to look normal when i'm riding!
Bad position in the last one, he took off early! Oh well.
