darkhorse, yes, very true to life -- but I prefer the wild and/or spoilt types to be the antagonists in my pony books, NOT the ones I'm supposed to root for! lol

Isn't there a bit somewhere in the book where the mother says to her husband, haven't we got lovely children? Talk about deluded! Re. her age, I think it was We Started a Riding Club which was written in her teens not this series (but could be wrong). But all were published when she was in her 40s - 60s I'd recommend The Heronsbrook Gymkhana if you enjoyed this one at any level. I think thats the best one of her books. Less sensationalist elements and more realistic than the others and not an irritating Marsham child in sight!

Just re-read They Rescued a Pony and agree the children were much better behaved in this book. Like others I enjoyed it more than Cuckoo.
