OK Trying to cheer myself up by getting back into the world of pony books! A genie comes out of a bottle and gives you instead of three wishes, three animals from any book you like. You can have any animals, one must be a pony/horse but the others can be anything from any book. (The genie also provides magic dog walkers for people who would love a dog but are not fit enough - and a huge, enclosed cat safe garden!!) If Fury counts as a pony book - I'm bagging him for my horse and Rebel (from Champion)plus Storm from All Change as my third animal!

Do the animals have to come out of a pony book or any children's book? I like the idea of the magic dog-walker!

As I'm a pretty feeble rider these days I'd like Minos, Gillian Baxter's Perfect horse and Jill's Plum, the perfect pony.
And just to even out the perfectness I'd like a pony with character like an Exmoor pony, PMM's Ben or Moorland Mousie, can't decide which one...

Hmmm so many ponies to choose from may have to go for Toad from Fly-by-night etc as he is the same breed and colour as my dear old Chime and he's good at cross country which was my favourite type of riding (tho doubt I could manage it now!) Close 2nd is Shantih.
If I can have a cat from a non-pony book I'll go for Carbonel from the Barbara Sleigh series as you'd have a very exciting life with him and I think he would look like my Gizmo.
Thirdly I'd have Mr Forsyte (Force) from the Punchbowl series as I love Siamese cats. (Tempted to say the baby puma from The Wild One!)
I doubt kunuma could stick to 3 knowing her propensity for collecting animals. BTW kunuma did you see that TV show about people who obsessively collect animals, think it was called The Woman with 40 Cats - I didn't see it but my mum was telling me about it.

I wondered who would grab Adonis!! Claire I did see that, and unlike the usual cat hoarders you see on TV - with a house full of cats in terrible condition, this woman had 40 beautiful pedigree cats, all in perfect condition and with the house all fitted out as a real cat house! She had taken on half of them when a friend died - bless her! They had a wonderful home. There are not many cats in pony books really - I don't think the PT's were fans! So yes any book counts!

Can I have a dog as well please? I want the lab puppy from Riding with the Lyntons! There are a few cats in pony books nowhere near as many as dogs tho. There was Luke the Siamese in DPT's Horses at Home and King Toby the persian in the Mary Gervaise Georgie series. Only in the Monica Edwards books were there a lot of cats tho. I wish I had more time I'd love to do a list of dogs and cats in pony books for the website. We did start a dog thread for people to add the breeds they found in books a while back but it petered out.
I didnt watch the cat programme as, like you said, I was afraid the animals would be in a bad state and she would be a selfish looney. But as both you and my mum said they were in good condition, I may try and track the programme down.

Jinny's Shantih (though I doubt I could ride her!), Jill's Black-Boy (he just sounds like a really nice pony). And I'd like Gobolino the Witches cat, from the book by Ursula Moray Williams.

Oh I loved Gobbolino when I was little!
I also have a sneaking admiration for Greebo the cat from Terry Pratchett's 'Witches' books. He is a battle scarred fiend in cat form but his owner thinks of him as a fluffy kitten, reminds me of a tabby tom cat my gran had called Mr Tiggy who - unlike his cuddly name - was actually a similar sort of beast! (BTW can't recommend these books enough if you haven't already read them)

My childhood cat (who lives with my mother these days), is called Gobbolino. He is dark-grey and very sweet. I will have to ask my partner about Greebo. He always has his nose in a Terry Pratchett book. I think he reads them on rotation!

I think I'd choose a nice, obliging pony for myself. Perhaps Saffron - after Alice has schooled him, and Cascade, from the Romney Marsh books, with his trap too.
I'd also have a cat. I'm rather tempted by Ragnar Gustaffson Coeur de Lion (Rags), from 'The Wild Road' by Gabriel King. Rags is a Norwegian Forest cat, and a very endearing character. In fact, I ended up getting a Norwegian cat of my own, Iella. So instead, I'll choose Freyni, the bluepoint Siamese from the Punchbowl Farm books. I like blue-pointed cats, and the old-fashioned style of Siamese, and Freyni was a great purrer - a very happy cat. I had a little brown cat who purred loudly and frequently, so Freyni would fill that space that Diesel left.

I think I would love Ballita from Sue's circus horse I love palominos and the circus trick would be ok. Gingersnap from Friends must part sounds a sweet pony not shore about the napping but think she would be worth the trouble. And how about Boodi from 6 cousins love that he only behaves for one person, and long as that one is me, and as for a dog how about the black dog from 6 cousins Crackers.
