Does anyone know a good home cure for stomach ulcers? I've had them before so I know what it is, but no way am I going through the whole tube down the throat thing again!! At the moment it hurts when I eat and hurts when I don't eat - just wondering what is the best thing to try and eat! It's very good for the figure, lost half a stone in a fortnight so far!!

Ewww that tube down the throat thing is awful, I've had it done too. I don't blame you for not wanting to go thru that again. In the end I didn't actually have a stomach ulcer so I'm not really one to offer advice. However I did find this page of alternative/natural treatments for stomach ulcers: www.naturalnews.com/028644_stomach_ulcers_remedies.htmlDo you think its the painkillers you take that have caused it kunuma?

Oh thanks Claire, that's just the sort of thing I was hoping for - raw cabbage and bananas - well, OK still better than the tube thing!
Yep it's the pain killers, I'm on about 16 a day!!

They tried to get me to have that done and I refused! Can't think of anything worse, I'd rather have something stuck up the other end than that lol Blimey Kunuma 16 painkillers! I expect you've tried herbal teas like Mint or Ginger? They help settle my stomach. Sorry not much help really!

I had stomach ulcers when I broke an ankle...the evil painkiller side effect. An over the counter antacid like Prilosec will reduce the acid in your stomach, giving it a chance to heal itself.
Ultimately, your best long term solution is to address the pain med situation.....there are so many out there, it could be your doctor could switch you to something that's not so hard on your stomach. As mine said to me, "I don't want to wind up in the ER cauterizing your stomach lining". Bleh.

Oh, and of course the bland diet with the Prilosec is a given...no spicy foods, no citrus, no coffee (even tea isn't good). Yes, it stinks, but being pain free is worth it!

Been following all your advice and though I don't feel like eating yet, the pain is a lot less, thanks folks!

Oddly enough a friend has been diagnosed with an ulcer and was told by doctors he does not have to change diet at all!
Hope you feel better soon kunuma (ooh there's no kissy smilie on here anymore either!)
