Garej - is the Doping Affair the same as the Pony Dopers? Yes. The Doping Affair is the original title, when it was republished by Armada they changed it. I dont know if it is true for all editions, but my Armada pb edition of The Pony Dopers says that it was originally published as The Doping Affair.

WOw - lucky you - gives us all hope that there are bargains to be found out there still. My Mystery Pony never arrived and seller not replied to email - how annoying.

Shame about Mystery Pony. Maybe they realised they had sold it at a ridiculously low price! I got mine OK tho it wasnt that cheap. Never mind if it doesnt turn up theres always 'ways and means' I am also waiting for something I bought on abe a while back and didnt turn up.

Did you order them all from same seller and have all not turned up? There are special rules re. buying mail order from businesses. ie) you MUST be able to return the book even if there is nothing wrong with it and get a refund (but you dont get your postal costs refunded unless it is faulty or described wrong). Not sure exactly what the rules are re. missing books I should know as I am supposed to follow them myself! However I always refund money if book is proved to have gone missing. Will check up on the rules for you as I want to remind myself of them too.

Sarah have just checked up for you on the distance selling regs. It says: The seller must deliver the goods or service within 30 days, unless you agree to something else. If this doesn't happen you must be refunded within 30 days. (I take it this means in the UK as the shipping time overseas can take longer). Obviously if this doesnt happen you have to take it into your own hands to sort it out which is sometimes not easy! If you have contacted the seller and got no reply, try abe books themselves also see if the seller is registered with any governing body such as the PFBA and you can contact them. Good luck! BTW have also double checked the returns aspect. If you contact seller within 7 days of receiving item you can return it for a refund. Except for perishable goods, magazines, newspapers or where you have taken things like dvds out of their sealed packaging. Again however its getting the seller to actually follow the law. The legal system in this country is so crap it can be very hard to get satisfaction. Oops sorry to stray from the point consumer rights is one of my hobbies

Sarah....did you buy from a used book site like abebooks or biblio? Some have return policies of their own...I returned a book to a seller listing on abebooks (it was in terrible shape, and had been described as "fine"!), but had problems collecting from the seller....abe made good on it themselves (though it did take a while).
Worth checking into, as those sites don't want their reputations (and profits!) ruined by a few bad sellers!

Thanks for that Susan - yes I went through abebooks - I did three orders (from three different sellers) - two lots came quickly and the third lot (the best one) still no sign or response. So will go on abe site and see what to do.

I actually got a reply from the seller of the book I bought that went missing on abe. But abe is pretty good at sorting out missing books if the seller doesnt respond.

Felt like saying I got it for 50p at a car boot sale just to annoy you! ;D
But actually it was part of a job lot of pony books I bought so couldnt really put a price to it. Come to think of it not sure what its worth as its so rare. There only seems to be about 3 copies in existance. Got some other good stuff too but this was the jewel in the crown so to speak

Did you get it on ebay garej as I saw a copy on there a few days back. I love his drawings. Yes, that copy came from ebay. Considering that I paid £45 (excluding postage) for Mona by him, it was quite a bargain. Apart from a tear on the front the dj is in good condition.

Ooh...excellent! I'm so glad you got it (what did it go for in the end? Hope it was reasonably inexpensive).
The only book of hers I'm still on the hunt for is Penny's Worth...which sat on abebooks for $50 for a while, and like a FOOL I delayed buying it...and then of course it was snapped up by someone wiser than me....the last copy I saw went on ebay for over $150.
Sigh...the book you regret the most is always the one you didn't buy.

Thanks susan. I think it was about £28, so 50 something dollars. But certainly a lot less than the other copy that was kicking around for about £90! Still quite a lot for me to pay for a book so I guess it will be going the 'scan it and sell' route when I have finished reading it!
Yes, I too have missed books loads of times by prevaricating. You certainly have to 'sieze the moment' dont you?

FINALY!!!!! I got a copy of Radney riding club. After i lost it in the floods years ago i lost hope as the cheapest i could find it for here in Australia was $50 and being a single mum with four kids who need new shoes as often as a horse that was out of the question, but i won it on ebay for....wait for it.....$3.25!!!.
I realy happy ;D....all i need now is pony club team to complete my Henry/noel collection again.

Thats great! Can't believe how much it was going for over there! Glad you got it a bit cheaper tho. Strangely enough have also lost my copy of it and am looking for a replacement. Pony Club Team is the easiest one of the lot to find here infact I'm pretty sure its on the book swaps list.
