It's got to be chocolate digestives, surely? And by that, I mean McVities, of course!

I like Fox's biscuits best, especially those seriously chocolate ones with chocolate chips AND chocolate coating! I quite like Fudge's biscuits, but I think that they're ridicously overpriced and not worth the money.

Oh no don't talk about chocolate biscuits I am on a diet! Yes choc digestives defo no. 1. Also love Twixes (or do they count as a sweet?) When I was a kid I used to love Club biscuits. Do they still sell them as I haven't seem them for yonks. And those chunky kit kats are lush too! well tbh honest if its got chocolate on it I'll love it. My fav non-choc biscuit are Foxes golden crunch creams. Yummy!

I prefer Chocolate cake to biscuits but I wouldn't say no to any of them ;D Clubs are still around I think Claire although they aren't as big as they used to be when I was a child, same as all choccy bars have shrunk!

Yeah - I've noticed this too and I'm sure Clubs and Kit-Kats and others have less chocolate coating! Although that's a good thing for people like me who need to lose weight! What happened to the milk chocolate club wafers? I used to like those.

Chocolate used to be really thick you could eat it off the bars in chunks. Not anymore! Why have I suddenly got a chocolate craving?!!!!!! ;D ;D

Clubs are most definitely still around. The cat rescue quite often has them in! Do Wagon Wheels count? Either way, they rock immensely!

Yes i agree that that biscuits, choccy bars and packets of crisps have all got smaller. My personal explanation for this is that it may be something to do with the fat content everything has on it now, nothing to do with them making it less fattening just that the miniscule portions make it seem less fattening! I used to love those Waifa biscuits. Haven't seen them for years either. Oreos which I think are American biscuits (or should that be cookies!) are nice too, especially if you eat the top layer off one and then stick two together to make an extra thick one

Yeah, this is all Greek to me, except Oreos. And yes, "cookies" not biscuits haha. Biscuits are a breakfast item! Pepperidge Farm Geneva: www.pepperidgefarm.com/ProductDetail.aspx?catID=729if we are being strict about the chocolate component. But any chocolate chip cookie, especially with pecans, is near the top of my list. Oh, hey, and to keep it pony related, you see LOTS of piebalds named Oreo!

Well, we have (or used to have, anyway), chocolate Ex-Lax, but I'm sure that's not what you mean!
Ok, just did some looking, and you can order McVitie's pretty easily here. And larger grocery stores with big international sections probably have them.
Do people still think of them as easing digestion, or just as a dessert?
Similarly, I'm glad Walgreens drugstores (pharmacies) and even some of my local grocery stores now carry Rittersport chocolate bars from Germany. Heaven!

Claire, they actually make a Double-Stuffed Oreo....with twice the filling of a regular one....will that entice you to emigrate I love Kit Kats too..one of my faves. They sell it with the candy (sweets) here, not the cookies, but for my money it could go either way.

Rittersport chocolate bars from Germany. Heaven! Ooooh I haven't tried those. This website is definitely a bad influence - books and chocolate are my top two weaknesses!

Tamzin, this one is my current fave, though I also love Milk Chocolate Almond and Dark Chocolate Hazelnut: www.ritter-sport.us/#/en_US/product/100g_butter_biscuit/Hubby loves the Marzipan, and I like it, too! (Well, actually I like them all!) That's funny, Tamzin, about the bad influence -- and so true! It is bad enough watching my "wish" list grow as I hear about new authors, and now if we all start turning each other onto sweets, we're all gonna be in big trouble!

This website is definitely a bad influence - books and chocolate are my top two weaknesses! Mine too! Susan - choc digestives (or indeed plain digestive bicuits) have not been considered medicinal for a looong time certainly not in my lifetime, probably not in my parents lifetime either. They are just considered a normal biccy. In fact I think most people don't even know where the name came from. Here's some info about the biscuit (cookie) for non British forum members: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digestive_biscuitI love marzipan and almonds. Oh and folks what about ice cream and such. Does anyone else love those choc and almond magnums or the white choc ones. Do they have magnums in USA (ice lollies with ice cream inside chocolate) We have a brilliant ice cream parlour round here which makes ice cream from their own herd of Guernsey cows. OMG it is amazing! Drooling here....off to eat another cereal bar...

^Haha, Claire, I have found one delicious chocolate-covered granola bar that is still low cal (well, lower than a real candy bar, anyway) but quite yummy. Doubt you have it there, though, but it is my "cereal bar" -- my dessert while dieting! Quaker Dipps Dark Chocolate.

Just had a google for that cereal bar rallycairn, nope I have never seen it here tho we do have Quaker products and quaker cereal bars - but not as good as those look!
I must say I actually love things that are yoghurt coated, which a lot of our UK low fat biscuits, cereal bars, etc over here are. To me tt tastes a bit like white chocolate but not as sweet, which I suppose is logical as they are both milk based. Also I really quite like cereal bars. But some of them (the ones that have with a load of nuts in them for eg.) are even more fattening than normal biscuits!

Do they have magnums in USA (ice lollies with ice cream inside chocolate) Indeed they do, plus several other brands of ice cream bars. Also not good for your figure: Not chocolate or icecream, but still delicious:

I'm curious if the Brits will know Pineapple Upside-Down Cake! Old American classics. My father's mother made another classic American cake called "Stack Cake." Anybody familiar? This one looks JUST like the ones my grandmother made: www.ladybehindthecurtain.com/old-fashioned-stack-cake/

I'm curious if the Brits will know Pineapple Upside-Down Cake! Mmmm, yes we certainly do have Pineapple Upside-Down Cake. It was the 1st recipe my son made from a great little book I picked up in a charity shop – Cherry Cake & Ginger Beer by Jane Brocket: www.amazon.co.uk/Cherry-Cake-Ginger-Beer-Treasury/dp/0340960892/ref=sr_1_5?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1374131388&sr=1-5The Pineapple one is from Five Run Away Together. All the recipes are from children’s fiction. One scrummy sounding one, which I’ve not made yet, is Marmaduke Scarlet’s Saffron Cake from The Little White Horse (Elizabeth Goudge). You can also make Loveday’s Marriage Proposal Parkin from the same book. We devoured the jammy cream buns from Malory Towers and the author explains that these are also known as Devonshire Splits and that’s another Marmaduke Scarlet recipe! I must stop reading this post. I sympathize with Claire; I need to lose weight, but haven’t started my diet yet and with this thread it isn’t looking likely, is it?
