Thanks for putting up the links sarah. Crikey didn't realise I had 40 questions for round 1! I think I'll shorten that to 30 this year and 20 for round 2.
Hope you join in rallycairn. Its just a bit of fun and then the others get me back by having a 'revenge' mastermind comp for me! On the general knowledge round I usually start off with easy questions which gradually get harder and there's usually a mix of UK, USA and Australian books to hopefully make it fair for everyone.

No Saddle Club books pleeez!!! ;D
Has anyone got Ponies in Peril by DPT as I'd really like to do that as my specialist subject as I'm due for a re-read of it. If not maybe a Monica Edwards or Silver Brumby book as kunuma must have them!

Oh, brilliant, if I read it correctly we all get all the questions for a round at once, is that right? That's doable. I thought it might be like the usual quizzes, with one answer at a time, then someone else must answer, and so on -- which is great but not something I have a lot of time for.
I don't think I'll be much more than someone to swell the ranks, but I'll join. Specialist subject Jill's Gymkhana?
Thanks for the links, Sarah. Don't know why I couldn't find them myself, I searched the "quizzes" forum, and I THINK I remembered to put in several years'worth of days in the search parameters. Sometimes I think maybe I'm not using this forum's search engine correctly. Hmm. Anyway, back to Mastermind!

Fab glad you are going to join us rallycairn - the more the merrier. Yep it works differently from the usual quizzes in that you just email/PM me all the answers together. Everyone is honour bound not to cheat or peek at their specialist book! The search engine is not a great one, its a bit erratic. I've had trouble finding things myself.

Great, I'm looking forward to it! Are all the questions supposed to be "closed book" -- no checking reference books, googling, etc. or is that just for the specialist questions?

Great, I'm looking forward to it! Are all the questions supposed to be "closed book" -- no checking reference books, googling, etc. or is that just for the specialist questions? Its like that for both rounds. I don't know if the original Mastermind was ever shown across there rallycairn but if not imagine you are sitting on a chair in a studio with someone asking questions - you can only answer with whatever you can dredge out of your memory! (which isn't a lot in my case) Obviously I can't stop people looking things up. We did try and think of some way to do it when we first had the comp but to be honest I couldn't really be bothered with something complicated so I just have to trust everyone For the benefit of those who don't know what the TV programme was like (and for those old farts who can remember this the fist time round) here's a classic spoof of it by the Two Ronnies:

(White Riders and The Summer of the Great Secret)

I've got all the Monica Edwards books and most of the Silver Brumby ones apart from the very rare ones - have a feeling I have got Ponies in Peril but haven't found it yet!

Well if you can find Ponies in peril that will be great. I have a few Monica Edwards ones that are due for a read but I have a feeling they are the less horsy ones.
Crikey I'd better get started on the questions for round 1 soon!

Yes kunuma let us know whats happening with Heidi (in the members only section if you prefer) have you found somewhere yet?
Don't forget folks that the competition starts on Saturday. I still need specialist subjects from odonna, fizz and haffy has to make her mind up which one to choose out of her shortlist!

Sorry been real busy of late then add to this an uber slow computer.
If it's easier i'll go with pony to School Claire although the eventers trilogy or Janet Must ride would probably be my preffered choices to do a re-read of.
I have a copy of Ponies In peril. When is Claire's quiz taking part? I'm off for a week after next week...

Is it too late to join in ? Nope anyone can still join in as long as you decide on a specialist subject in the next few days. Altho choosing your own books is a no-no ;D If it's easier i'll go with pony to School Claire although the eventers trilogy or Janet Must ride would probably be my preffered choices to do a re-read of.. Haffy just choose the one you really want to re-read, it won't take me forever to think up a few questions for either of those choices as I've read the Akrill trilogy loads of times and I read Janet not long ago.

That'll be haffy doing the questions then!! ;D With four of us we only need to come up with 5 general knowledge questions each, so that is doable - when does everyone want to do it??

eeeeeek! Starts tomorrow!
Not sure to be happy or sad about timing.....I do have to clean this weekend, so will (in theory) have less time to devote to this round.
On the other hand, I have cleaning to do this weekend, so this will be an excellent excuse to work fast; do a quick once-over; do a completely half-a$$ed job ..... Dust, what dust? You need to get your eyes checked ;D ;D ;D

Part of me is tempted to join in (if it's not too late) and I know what my specialist subject would be, but I know I wouldnt win again, and that is what is putting me off! Dont want to break my unblemished record!
