Hi all, if anyone is using the latest updated version of firefox can they check something for me. I have just done the latest update and when I looked on an author page some of my bold text has been replaced by non-bold and it has changed the font and font size too, making it look a right mess. I seem to remember another update doing this. Is it just my computer or does anyone else see the same thing. If you have a spare sec please check out this link and let me know: judithberrisford.ponymadbooklovers.co.uk/Ta folks x

It's looks okay to me Claire...not sure what version i'm actually using but i updated browser end of last week as 3.1. whatever (the last update version that my email actually worked with!) was crashing constantly - i was very dubious but this version seems compatible....most technical thing i can tell you is I know have a little orange firefox tab with drop down menu button in top left corner above the tabs

Thanks haffy sounds the same version as mine. It may be just my computer doesnt like it, did exactly the same thing a while back and I had to install a previous version of firefox but then it went OK. Crikey this website business is becoming a full time occupation!

I've just checked and the text does look a bit strange my end. I don't normally use Firefox and I've no idea what version it is.

I'm using the latest Firefox (and wish they would stop introducing daft things like suggesting which bookmark you visit next - I don't need to be nagged by a computer.................. ) and it looks OK to me - it's got smaller - but then everything does all the time - I suppose it could actually be my eyes!

Thanks you two. Not sure what is happening here as I had the same version as haffy and kunuma and yet it looked weird on mine. Will try installing version 10.0.2 and see what happens. Oh btw rosie do you have Windows 7 or XP? You dont have a HP computer by any chance do you?

Thanks for the info rosie, thought it might have been some compatibility problem with the HP operating system since it seems only you and I are experiencing probs - but if you havent got an HP computer then that scotches that theory.

Hmm just installed 10.0.2 and it looks weird in that version, but its OK in a later one then goes odd once more in the most recent. Not sure whats happening. May have to contact firefox. What doesnt make sense to me is that on some pages half of the text is the correct font etc and half wrong!

BTW if anyone dislikes the new version of firefox (as do i not only cos of my website) here is a link to the version considered to be the best by computer geeks. It only takes a few secs to install just click on where it says Firefox 3.6.28 beside a little pic of a disc: www.oldapps.com/firefox.php?old_firefox=7369Also kunuma (and anyone else) dont forget you can make websites as big or as small as you like by using CTRL and + or - keys

Eventually managed to find what version I was using - it's 13.0.1 - think I will try for the nerd one though, as far as I am concerned everytime they upgrade it they make it more annoying!

Yeah you get sick of them changing things, I wouldn't mind if they just updated it to make things run quicker, etc, but they have to keep altering the layout etc which is just annoying. Did you manage to install the earlier version kunuma? Have worked out what the prob is - the bold type 'arial black' font I use is causing the trouble as firefox is converting it (most of the time!) to 'Times New Roman' which apart from being non bold is smaller, thus making the pages look very odd. I can't see a way round it other than changing the font on all my author pages so just hoping the next firefox update will set things back to rights. At least I can use a different font on the latest authors I add so they at least will look OK. Me & the internet is surely a love-hate relationship!

Thanks for that link Claire. I was also on 13.0.1 i found by deleting it and my computer hated it, it was running so slow, now on the version from Claires link and have a happy (ish) dinosaur once again...at least it's back up to speed!

Did you all have to uninstall the previous Firefox version first?

Did you all have to uninstall the previous Firefox version first? Nope just click on the link, firefox just accepts it as an upgrade, rather than a downgrade and installs it over whatever version you have. Theres been a lot of discussion about how hopeless 13 is so perhaps they will get shot of it! I don't like the latest version of explorer either so I might even replace that with the earlier one, tho I dont use it as much as FF.

The next time I have any bright ideas about fiddling with my computer, someone STOP me!! Managed to lose Firefox completely!!! Did a timeloop backwards thingy back to the middle ages and then had to forward it again - Claire has told me a million times how to do a backwards thing (forgotten the tech name for it - don't think it's actually called a time loop) but I still tied myself in knots - might be easier just to knit a new laptop!! Anyway, back now!

I think you mean a system restore kunuma ;D Not sure how you managed to uninstall Firefox by doing an update, but even if you did you didnt actually have to do a system restore you could have just re-installed it. Yep I think a knitted laptop is just right for you kunuma - tho even then you'd manage to drop a stitch and lose the whole thing! ;D ;D ;D
