Black Caviar is an Australian racehorse who has won 21 races in a row. She has just arrived in England to take part in the Diamond Jubilee carnival. She wore what looked like a space suit on her 30 hour flight. She is a very good looking mare. All thoroughbreds are good looking but she has something extra. I would like to know how she does in England!

She looks brown to me Will have to check in the decs for the race see what colour they have her listed as! Hope she wins too pity the odds are so bad, might even watch that race. Normally avoid Royal Ascot cos of all the idiot posing women in silly hats!

Just found her form guide yup she's brown. I suppose the name doesn't necessarily refer to her colour.

wicked, she won! And apparently now gets to retire. She is most definitely brown; the name is one of the owner's favourite foods and apparently comes from the same area as one of the mare's ancestors. They were having it served on their riverboat cruise down the Murray River as peter Moody persuaded people to buy into ownership. They certainly received a good return on their investment. She is a gorfeous looking horse.

Well done Black Caviar! I forgot to watch this - will have to watch in on racing post website. Wonder what the odds were at SP they were pretty bad ante post or I would have had a flutter.

OMG just watched this and it was close jockey totally dropped his hands near the end of race! Otherwise she looked really comfortable the whole way.
I loved that there were loads of Australians watching it on a big screen and waving flags - now thats the sort of thing I could get excited enough to wave a flag for. Its lovely the way the Aussies got behind the horse. Was it a really big thing in Australia Vera?

Yes, it was a big special event. This mare is more popular than Makybe Diva, who won three Melbourne Cups in a row. There was a lot of build up before and a lot of speculation about whether she could do it against the best European horses. Her jockey said he forgot Ascot had an uphill at the end and has been beating himself up about dropping the reins but the trainer said she won and that's what counts! An inch or a length is still a win. They actually televised the race live and people stayed up to watch it. (NOt me.) That is what I meant about Aussies being sports minded. Most of the people watching would not be interested in horse racing or even horses, but here is a champion, let's support her as best we can.

I think its great I can't imagine people here staying up to watch a horse race like that. When our great sprinter Lochsong went across to Longchamps to race in the Abbaye I don't think anyone outside the racing community/fans even knew about it. Anyway fantastic that she won and now she can enjoy her retirement

I was there - the atmosphere was incredible - she was amazing but looked totally exhausted afterwards i thought. I got a picture of her going past the start - but my friend and I were shouting for her so hard - we both missed her flashing past us. How lucky was the jockey to get away with that error.

Watched it - we got the BBC coverage on a commercial channel, BC's race was on after midnight. So close! She looked a bit distressed afterwards - I just wanted them to stop posing her for photos and let her walk to cool off. Then she nearly headbutted the Queen :-o :lol

Black Caviar won her 25th race in a row yesterday!!! I'm not a racing fan as you know, but she is a PHENOMENON- an absolute FREAK and a bona fide Australian Hero. She's up there with Phar Lap now. She has made so many people very happy even though you can't win anything betting on her- they're lucky if they can find 4 other horses to race against her! Her owners, most of them women, want what's best for her so they reassess her future after every race, and that's the way animal sports should be. I think she'll retire soon.

She's retired!!! I'm sitting in bed watching a half hour documentary right now. So glad to see a horse put first in the racing industry. She used to regularly go to a special rehab for horses and had little ponies as mates. She's the race horse I'd most like to meet, since Phar Lap is dead. There's another phenomenal mare called Makybe Diva who's a hero down here (retired).
