Hi all, I'm getting a bit bored with the look of the forum which is frankly a bit dull-looking. I thought it would be nice to give it a makeover. Anyone have any suggestions as to design, colour, if we should have any pics, etc? If so please post your ideas here.
(BTW you may have noticed I already slightly changed the forum header by centering the title and changing the messages a bit, and I took off the time cos it nearly always seemed to be wrong no matter how much I fiddled with it. If you prefer the old style message bit and want the time back let me know)

I never looked at the time so it doesn't bother me either way.
Pictures would be nice in the header maybe?

I agree with Rosie, pictures of pony books would be good. Maybe some cartoon horses or animation too.

I'd love to have a cartoon of a horse reading a book. I'd also like it for the website. So if anyone has got one in their clipart or has seen one anywhere I may be able to scrounge please let me know. Or maybe someone more artistically talented than me could draw one?

Lol haffy, I quite like the blue colour so I may keep it similar. I've been looking for a pic of a horse reading a book for years. Saw one somewhere once but never been able to find it again. It was a horse sitting down on a chair cross-legged with a book in one hoof!
Trixiepony I'd love one of your drawings if I could get it to upload OK. It would be fantastic to have one of a horse reading. Or failing that anything related to pony books.

I do like the fact a pop up window comes up and informs you of a new PM, because before half the time I didnt notice that I had a new one!

Please don't do anything fancy that may require the fluff between my ears to fire up and be forced to pay attention and learn anything too hard! Still haven't mastered photobucket...or my mobile phone, set top box, dvd...We don't even have a microwave and I have seen a mechanical dishwasher but never used one.
As I know you are a woman of exquisite taste and discernment, anything you do will be charming- but please, NO GLITTERY UNICORNS OR SEMI NAKED MEN.

but please, NO SEMI NAKED MEN. Awwww..... Anyway think I have exhausted my supply of pics of half naked men! ;D Glittery unicorns bring me out in hives so there will be none of them either, and I won't be changing anything radical in the way the forum will be used, just attempting to make it a bit more appealing to the eye.

I actually came across a 'toy' in a horse magazine called "Pimp my Pony": do people really not know what to 'pimp' or be a pimp means? AAARRRGGHH!
I'm actually glad I have boys...

I assume it means the alternative version of pimp as in 'pimp my ride' - glam it up. Still sick-making tho! I loathe this fashion for seeing ponies as some sort of pretty dress up doll. When I was a kid girls who likes ponies were the antithesis of those frilly girlie girls who liked to dress up as princesses and the like. We saw ponies in a realistic way. Now the girlie girl brigade have even taken them over! Sigh...

We saw ponies in a realistic way. what about my little ponies - they were pink and frilly - don't tell me you never plaited their manes and tails (after you'd pulled it out brushing it of course) and dressed them in their costumes Don't tell me you've never done all the above (bar pulling it's tail out) to the real thing either ;D ...Never clipped funky patterns into them before taking it all off later etc (mainly because it doesn't look as cool as you thought it would )

Lol haffy but I don't think they had My Little Ponies in my day. If they did I never saw them. I didn't even really plait my dolls hair. I remember giving one of my sindy dolls a crewcut and colouring it pink! (Punk sindy ;D ) My favourite games were cowboys and indians and playing agricultural shows with my Britains animals. But maybe I was a weird child.....

I don't remember My Little Ponies but I did have model horses with cardboard stables. I used to deface my dolls too claire, cut all their hair off and scribble on them.

My dad was a journalist and came back from Spain with a full on doll in the national costume- weird veil type head dress and all- and straight away I went and gave it to the neighbour's dog. I was 4 or 5 and never been into girlie stuff. It ate the costume and bit the doll's head so it had a wonky eye from then on. My friend and I did have Barbies but I'd put them in her Barbie campervan and send it off down a steep hill and kick it into the creek and they'd die a horrible death. Also hated dresses- I even wore my jodhs to a Bar Mitzvah once!

Thanks for sending me all the pics trixiepony, they are fantastic. I'm trying to decide which one I like best.
Lol Callie, I wasn't into dolls much either even from an early age. I remember having a strop on at a Christmas party where all the kids got a little toy and I was extremely annoyed that I'd got a boring baby doll when my brother got something really interesting. Coincidentally my mum had one of those spanish dolls which she got on her honeymoon. It was on her dressing table for years and I dont think I ever showed any inclination to play with it.

Trixiepony, after much deliberation I think I like the piebald pony best out of the 3 drawings you sent as I have a soft spot for pies and skews and i think the colours may work best too. If you don't read this post I'll send you an email. Thanks again for the fab pics.
I'll probably leave off making over the forum until the New Year as I've got a lot to do up til Christmas. Hopefully I'll have time to sort it out in the hols.

Ok Thanks Claire is it ok how it is or should I put a background with it like the stable at the back off the horse in the chair. It may be good as not so white.

If you leave it with a white background trixiepony that may be best. If you could scan it in quite hi resolution and send me the scan that would be fantastic. I may have to make a mask of it (which entails digitally cutting round the image to make a sort of clip art image) I'm not very good at this, but if you don't do it you end up getting a line round the picture which looks like a box. May have to brush up on my photo-shopping skills over the holidays! If that doesn't work the alternative would be to do a pale background and I can do the mask round that which may be easier. Thanks again

Finally made a start on glamming up the forum a bit! Needs a few tweaks here and there but I'm sure you'll agree that trixiepony's pony pics are fab! Also added a new background with horseshoes. I know I was gonna keep it blue but the lilac colour trixiepony had used to highlight the horse seemed to need a similar colour to match. Any comments/suggestions post here - as I said earlier will be tweaking a bit as I rather stupidly started this late at night and now too knackered to continue! BTW its a bit odd but the title banner changes if you zoom the text size up. I always have it pretty big as I'm blind as a bat and the banner almost fills the page, but when I opened the forum on a different browser which was standard size its a lot smaller with a lot of white to either size. So I guess I need to work out if I can have it so it always fills the title box as that looks better - if its possible that is. (Oh and if you are struggling with the small text and you don't know how to zoom in and make text bigger its CTRL and + pressed together)
