Hi folks, after the success of last years Mastermind competition, I was wondering if anyone wanted to have a Mastermind for this year too and challenge haffy for the title Yes, its almost a year since we did it!!! Perhaps we could make it an annual event. Obviously you would have to choose a new specialist subject, otherwise it would be the same as last year with a general knowledge and specialist round. Please post here if you are interested in taking part, and if enough people are interested I will set it up to start next month.

Sounds great Claire. Not sure about a different specialist subject though i always really like stuff no one else does or are indifferent about

Just to remind people, or to let people know who didn't take part in last years comp - 2 rounds, one general pony book knowledge, one specialist subject which can be anything at all as long as its pony book related, ie a series, author, even a book. The more narrow the subject, the harder the questions will be. For example if you choose the works of Elinore Havers as your specialist subject, the questions will be easier than if you just chose one of her books. I hope this will make it fair for everyone.

Great everyone! No hurry to think of specialist subjects, as long as I've got everyone's in by the end of the month that should give me time to get cracking on the questions.

Hi folks just to let you know the first round (general knowledge) of the comp will hopefully be next week. I am a bit behind as I have been away and now suffering from flu and chest infection and don't seem to be able to concentrate on anything requiring the use of brain cells at the mo!
If you have not chosen your specialist subject yet please let me know in the next week or so - if you havent signed up yet you still have time, but please let me know asap.

All I can say is I've got the most terrible needle and I'm in utter despair as I've only read Primrose Cummings books once and that was ages ago. I'm reading Pony Club Camp at the moment, really enjoying it ;D

No probs susan.
I may have a longer gap between the 2 rounds than last time as we all seem to be a bit behind this year!

Is there any way I could do Black Beauty? A bit simple I know but I can't think of any other Pony books I know really well, and seeing as i've picked an English degree I don't have much time to read any right now! Too many classics to get read in a short amount of time

Black Beauty will be perfectly find mysteryarab - thats one book I have definitely read and own so it makes doing the questions easy!
Interesting to hear you are doing an English degree. I did English Lit & Psychology for my degree. Read some good books tho some of the stuff was dire (Virgina Woolf - ughhh!!!) Pity they dont do a module on pony books tho ;D

Sarah if you are lurking around - you are the last one whose specialist subject I need. Not trying to put you on the spot or anything ;D
Just to whet people's appetites (or give them the needle lol) I think the general knowledge round is pretty hard. There are 40 questions this year, around 10 are easy, about 20 are middling-hard and about 10 very difficult.
