Hi everyone
My name is Bronwyn. I love pony books, was mad about horses as a child, did some horse riding, but never owned a horse becaue my family lived in suburbia. I also have a PhD in literature, and at the moment I'm interested in writing an article on Patricia Leitch, which is one of the reasons I've joined the forum. Will post more about what I'm doing under the pony books section of the forum.
Oh, I also live in Australia.

Hello everybody! I joined this forum after doing a google search for Jinny and Shantih. It's really exciting for me at the moment as I'm going to be buying a horse again after a ten year 'break' - can't wait!

Hi twelthnight! Welcome. Hope you will enjoy it here. Good timing as we are just helping out with another forum member who is writing an essay on Patricia Leitch - and I am also setting up a Pat Leitch fan site!
Congrats on the horse. Lucky you! I am about to start riding again after a long break.

Thank you! This seems like a great place to be. It's so funny as I am a member of another proboards forum with exactly the same layout, and I am twelfthnight there, too - I keep getting confused!

OK- I'm not a new member but I have been an absent one and I apologise sincerely! My son broke my lap top a couple of months ago and since I do most of my computing in bed I've been virtually cut off from Cy.Space 'cos I hate sitting at the communal i-mac in the kitchen. Star the wunder horse is looking 5 years younger and is very spoilt food and grooming-wise but I need to ride him more, both my ducks have died, I've had 2 flu bouts, a cockatoo nearly bit my finger off and the kids are still rather trying. I will (really) try & get some Star pics up soon . I've genuinely missed you forum ladies and welcome to all the newbies. xoxoxoxo.

The weird thing is that he's (usually) gorgeous to look at but photgraphs REALLY badly! Anyway, I'll try to learn to put up pics this week (photobucket, is it?) even tho I'm sick to death of computers right now- OH Phil faffs about on them for ages instead of doing practical things like mowing the jungle out back where the weeds are literally as tall as me (am only 5ft2ish tho).

Star sounds like me, doesn't look great on photographs but really stunning in real life ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Joking aside, I am sure he looks lovely both in and out of photos! Your garden also sounds like mine

Hey Cally it's great to hear from you - I always seem to find that finding time for riding is a lot harder than mucking out, grooming etc!!! Looking forward to seeing pics of star

Hello PonyBook Fans,
I came across this forum as I am idly thinking of writing pony books (about time some decent modern ones appeared, but more on that later no doubt!). It's lovely to see there are others with such fond memories of the old classics and I hope to pick your brains for inspiration!
My parents weren't remotely horsey, so I had a pony-less childhood and had to make up for it by devouring pony books. I often mention this cruel, deprived upbringing to my mum and dad, but they don't seem interested.....
My collection was a real mish-mash of books; I had all the Jinny ones new, but most of the older stories I gleaned hap-hazardly from charity shops. In fact, it seems from reading here there is a whole set I've missed out on as I've never heard of Noel and Henry....looks like I've got some catching up to do.
I am still a total bookworm and studied Eng Lit at uni which I think has left me with very high standards. I am a bit of a literary snob! I ride occasionally, but not as regularly as I would like as it's very expensive here in London.
Looking forward to chatting with you all,
Foxglove (named after a jaunty little Fell pony I used to ride)

Hi foxglove (lovely name) Welcome to the forum ;D ;D My collection is a mish mash of all sorts of pony books, mostly bought from charity shops. I usually ending up reading the last in a series before getting hold of the first one

Hi foxglove and welcome to our forum. Hope you enjoy it here. Oh and good luck with the writing - we certainly do need some better modern pony books!

Hello. I've just joined the forum after spending an evening trawling the internet as I tried to remember all the pony books I used to read and love. It was lovely to come across this site.
My main trauma is that I was persuaded by my mum many many years ago that I would never read my large collection of pony books again and so they should go to the jumble sale... how short sighted was I? (The optician says very). I am now slowly building up a collection of my favourites, but it's quite an expensive past time and I'm hopeless at remembering the actual names of all the books. I suspect I'm going to be spending a lot of time going through the website!
Thanks for a great site.

Hi Dawn and welcome! How many times have I heard about collections of pony books ending up in jumble sales or in the bin! I am so glad I kept mine. Luckily my mother is a terrible hoarder and can't throw anything away so they stayed safe in an attic for many years until I rescued them a few years back when I decided it was time to enter my second childhood! ;D

Hi everyone,
I'm really sad that I have never found this site before, I have been collecting and reading pony books all my life and had no idea that so many people were doing it too!
Particular favourites, in common with most people I'm sure, are the Noel and Henry, Georgia and Spot, Chill Valley Hunt and Monica Edwards Romney and Punchbowl. I do have quite a number but seem to lack one or two of most sets!
I live in Buckinghamshire in the UK, have done for 20 years or so, I have two children, nearly grownup and a long suffering OH.
Between us we have the last in a long line of rescued gerbils, a beagle called Buster and two horses, one a Caspian called Jade and the other a Section D mare called Biggs (16hh, hence the name!). My daughter and I both ride a lot and share the Welshie as she has long outgrown the Caspian.
I am really looking forward to making my way through all the threads, so many stories that I have loved and re-read a hundred times. I might even get round to cataloguing the collection at long last instead of just reading them.
Rrosie

Lucky you, Biggie sounds lovely, I love section Ds. I hope you will get round to posting pics of him some time.
Yep rosie, I thought you were having a senior moment and had joined twice ;D ;D ;D

Hi all . Have been reading pony books for over thirty years and have always kept my favourite Dream of Fair Horses and the Jinny at Finmory series by Patricia Leitch on my booksleves, along with other faves like The Pony Problem by Barbara Holland and The Team/ Flambards series by K.M. Peyton. A few years back my mum brought over a box of my old books that had been stored in her garage: a plethora of pony books, mainly PTS and the Jill and Jackie series, not in bad condition considering . Found this forum while browsing and have been inspired to get stuck in to them over the summer . Haven't ridden since my teens so no ponies here unfortunately but I'm working on winning the lottery to fix that Cheers ;D
