OK - the weather is totally up the creek and so is the way the grass is growing, it keeps stopping and starting and I am still moving the electric fence each day but only a smidgen and cutting back on hard feed. How is everyone else coping, I have a juggling act between feeding a toothless elderly enough, and not letting her get too much new growth and go down with laminitis. Is everyone else still allowing ad lib grazing, and ... anyone else still wearing New Zealands despite wanting to moult? Err..the horses that is.............................. ;D

Mine still have rugs on as too cold at night still...they had none in day last week but now it's freezing again so have them on all time.
Mine live out but I strip graze all winter as since Murph had lami am a little cautious to let him graze ad lib. I am just making my field smaller at min...I halved it about 3 weeks ago and moved fence in a bit more yesterday as grass is growing! They have started to leave their hay instead of snuffling every last wisp which is a sure sign of the green stuff. I weaned them off am feeds last week when it got warmer and will continue one feed a day (albeit smaller than the one they have now - only have forage diets anyhow) all summer as it makes worming etc easier and keeps Harry happy. He loves his bucket!
**edited for spelling...sorry Kunuma if you understood it you deserve a medal **

Thanks haffyfan - you have reinforced my feeling that it was time to clamp down on grass consumption!! I took my little Welshie's rug off cos she was bald on her withers, then it started to snow so had to put it back on, ..... and her neck cover so she'll have no mane left either. Anyone for a Chinese Crested horse?

Hi I am oppsessed by showing which I think most of you have worked out by now lol. Arfa likes to live out at night and come in for a sleep and breakfast and tea, during the day. I have to keep his coat and weight looking good now, and ajust the rugs constantly, we have about 6 acres of sandy soil which is very well draining for 3 M & Ms it has permanent electric fencing up. Have just moved them to a differnent section and only havely horsage if its cold all night. its a nightmare in surrey have to feed big bale horsage as hay can be poor quaitly down here, and dont get me started on straw
