16. Savitt, Williams and Peyton were all author/illustrators - Savitt was better known as an illustrator, but he also wrote his own books, Williams and Peyton better known as writers, but each illustrated some of their own work.

Is that Miskeen the Dancing Horse book?? I haven't read it but it sounds amazing - I know he was rescued from abuse in Russia but don't know his breed, so this is a guess, if not all rescues, were they all chestnut Arabs?

Well I'll give you the point kunuma, even tho you got there in a very roundabout way ;D The book is actually The Dancing Horse by Carol Vaughan. It and the other 2 all feature Arabs! (tho I dont think they're all chestnut!)

:-) I was going to guess spotted for 11 myself, but all the Comets I could think of are chestnuts! (Technically, Dragon is a Pony of the Americas (a founder of the breed, but spots are spots, so he could probably be counted as both.....though I'm guessing PoA people would argue to the death about that).

Susan correct for 5 and 10.
Sarah, as near as dammit correct for 11 they are all spotted in colour rather than apaloosa, which gets over the problem of Dragon! Comet is a horse in Pippa's Mystery Horse by JMB, susan.

Ahh....that explains it! I haven't read any of the Pippas! Are they any good? JMBs work (my opinion only, of course) is uneven....some of the books I've really enjoyed (Ponies Next Door, Timber) others I haven't even been able to get through (Red Rocket....zzzzzzzzz......I'm sorry, where was I?)

I feel like that about her books and I haven't read that many. Loved Timber. But another of her books, which I can't even remember what it's called, I didn't finish.

I have read almost all her books and I must admit I have liked them all, without any of them being great. I just find them relaxing and easy reading. (Apart from Pony in the Family which was just plain dull) The Jackie series can get irritating at times due to Jackie and Bab's continuing meddling. Pippa is less annoying and she has a brother, so its balanced out more between the sexes. Its funny but the people who like JMB dont usually rate Timber and vice versa, I do think it is the least typical of all her stories.
Going back to the quiz, there is just the one left to work out:
14. JACKIE / RUTH / SANDY & FERGUS

I quite like JMB btw...easy reading, nothing too challenging/taxing for the old brain...didn't like Timber or Red rocket though. Pippa I feel is slightly more developed than Jackie and much more balanced.
