Rosie....I agree, 21 is rather a horror!

haffy, you are right, 6 is Sagebrush Sorrel by Frank C. Robertson (I didn't ask for author's names, so that's fine!)
Rats....I think I made this too easy! :-)

Sorry susan not very good at these sort of quizzes as I have a poor visial memory. (Hell I have a poor memory full stop!) so even tho I do recognise lots of them cant remember where they come from! Yes clues would be nice, even if just basic, ie whether the author was British, American, etc.

Snuffle....I did make it too hard...has anyone EVER had to give 21 clues to a 25 question quiz :-(
Author nationality:
1 British 2 British 3 American 4 Irish 7 British 9 British 10 British 11 British 12 Australian 13 British 14 American 15 British 16 British 17 British 18 British 19 Australian 20 British 21 British 22 Australian 24 American 25 British
That coupled with the books already identified essentially gives away the "Vice Versa" element, which should also point you towards solutions to the remaining titles!
Note that I've removed the "one answer at a time" rule.....so if you know a few (please, please, let someone know a few!), go for it!!!

Aww susan dont worry about it, its really hard to get the balance right between making the quizzes too easy or too hard. At least you didnt get your ass whupped like I did with my hangman Anyways thanks for the clues, they have helped me recall which books some of the pics I recognised belonged to: 4. Bernagh Brims - Runaway Riders 12. Joan Phipson - Good Luck to the Rider 19. Libby Anderson - New Horse for Marnie 22. Is it one of the Billabong series? (Guess!) Is the vice versa thing something to do with an edition being published in a differnt country to the author who wrote it?

Claire, YES! to Runaway Riders, Good Luck to the Rider and New Horse for Marny. 22 isn't a Billabong book.
And YES!!!! That is exactly it....all the editions are "Foreign" editions....i.e. from a different country than the author!

More clues! (Sorry to have taken so long....I've spent most of this past week helping set up my local library's booksale!).
2 The title of this book is the antithesis of number 11, guess that one, and this will surely follow!
7 This famous book by a most beloved author with such a long career that she's published under two different names!
9 A title from the less famous series from this popular author, whose most famous series is also the most devisive
10 The cover art of this US edition is taken from the internal art of the original UK edition, so in a way, it has the same illustrator....but a different title altogether! A very famous, collectable author
11 The shocker about this book by a British child author is that it actually got a US printing....talk about obscure on two shores!
13 This popular title had not one, but two authors
14 This book, part of a trilogy, is actually easier to find in the UK than in it's native US, though the other two in the trilogy didn't even get a UK printing
17 same author as 9....this book has to win the award for "how many different titles can one book have?"
18 This author wrote only two pony books....she's better known for schooling girls than equines
21 This omnibus had three authors...the most prolific pony book authors EVER

9. PONY CLUB RIDER from Pat Leitch's Kestrels series
17. LAST SUMMER TO RIDE (aka Janet Young Rider etc, etc!)
Still puzzling over some of the others. Have ideas but not quite sure!
