I'm pretty slow as it never dawned on me about Clark Gable and Tallulah Bankhead when I read it. I just thought the names were odd! Actually I thought that particular book was one of the not so great Stabenfeldt ones. I have read better stories by that author. It wasnt too terrible tho.
But back to the quiz: a little clue for the ones left to do: there are 3 Bitish native pony breeds and 3 horses, one American, one heavy. Hope this helps.

Well done & correct to 14 and 18 exmoorfan you got a hard one in no. 14 (for us Brits anyway)...and you said you were no good t quizzes! 21 Bridget and william is not Dartmoor, but close, it's another native breed. The book is for younger children so that may give you a clue!

Well it looked like a Dartmoor... I've just looked at the cover on Claires site of Bridget and William and you're right, it does look like a Dartmoor! Or a teeny bit like an Exmoor possibly, but I'm sticking with Shetland after Claires clue lol

It IS a shetland, altho after having another look at the cover it does look more like a dartmoor or exmoor. It looks too big for a shetland. However when the book was republished in a 2 in 1 edition (and renamed Black Woolly Pony) it does look like a Shetland:
