I think the twins and their ponies is the trick one as they had hobby horses.....did anyone else have one (pre the furry neighing type like my sister had that is?) - I had a white (painted wooden) one with a wheel...loved him!

Well I did mention trick questions and i didnt say it had to actually be a horse just horsy! We've already had a mule and a hobby horse! ;D But sneakiness aside, correct everybody. Yep, Bab's pony Patch was a New Forest. I always thought it a pity there wasn't more about Patch in the books as he seemed quite a character. I think all the rest are now straight forward horses or ponies

:-) Totally understandable....I don't think it's a very well known breed....I've never heard of it outside of that series, and from what their page states there are only about 50,000 in existance, and the breed has only been around since the 1950s.

16) LEGEND OF THE ISLAND HORSE BY JENNY HUGHES - Gable is a Quarter Horse
Honestly, what kids name their ponies after old actors/actresses? I'm assuming Gable is Clark Gable, because the girl's best friend has a mare named Tallulah (as in Tallulah Bankhead). I've just started reading this one (your fault Claire, I'm actually in the middle of an adult mystery!), and I'm waiting for a dressage pony named Astaire to turn up :-)
