Hmm, well now I feel I have to say why I liked the book so much - I think the cover did a lot for it when I had the book - and actually I do think that a bad cover can put me off the book too! Like I said - the rustling didn't seem cliched to me as it goes on nowadays sadly. I liked the way Ken approached the handling and gentling of Snow, and the way the stallion behaved when he was trying to get him used to new people and nearer to the house was very typical. I liked the character of Ken because he was a loner - much preferred him to the other Ken, that drip from Wyoming!! I liked the ride through the storm too, the aspect that really rings true is trying to decide whether to go through the trees to get the shelter but risk a tree on your head, or staying out in the full force of the storm - had to make that decision myself! Reminded me of the ride through the floods that Tamsin did with Cascade.

Finally went back to this and finished it last night. I continued to find it oddly detailed (as I mentioned earlier, all the details about the outdoors, the farm routines, plus excruciating detail about the topography of the land, etc.) and in throwing in just about every possible clichΓ© -- rustlers, multiple rides to the rescue, etc. -- but still I enjoyed the characterizations and the descriptions of the taming of Snow. So, pretty much in agreement with what everybody else said!

Well done in going back and finishing it. I find it incredibly hard to do that when I've let a few weeks go by - mainly cos I've usually forgotten everything by then!
