Oh Game of Thrones is brilliant. Best thing on TV by far. Altho its fantasy its more like medieval history with loads of plotting and intrigues and betrayals etc. Books are good too. But it is very violent. Another thing I like about it is that the wolves are the goodies for once!
I'd love to see a zebra unicorn!
Oh almost forgot to say have updated smilies hope I haven't missed any out.

Finished Silver Snaffles - Primrose Cumming please give it a smiley.
Thought it was a bit of a slow start but after the adventure through the mist the story really improved.
Fabulous pony names, just loved 'Tattles' and 'Dragon'

I came in on the TV series on series 4, now I'm playing catch up and starting the books at the beginning too - not recommended to do it backwards like this, but I'm still addicted despite some very horrible bits! btw Haffy's Zebra unicorn has got pink stripes - I think a my little pony gene got in the pedigree somewhere! Finished the Jean trio, and More Ponies For Jean gets a smiley of course.

I have gotten a bit stuck I am afraid. I am constantly tired due to bad health problems, and I havent done much reading of late. Started A Place With Two Faces, but yet to finish it.

Done Snow Cloud Stallion - I'd forgotten what a short book it is - really only a long short story! Do we know any more about the author - I'll go and have a look on the pmbl site for him.
It gets a smiley and might get favourite book, just because the brilliant cover illustration suits the book so well and because it is set in sort of Waltons country and I have always wanted to go to America and see that sort of scenery - but never will so have to just read about it and watch it on TV. It was set in Vermont and I don't know where that is (I was obviously away the day they did geography) so will have to go and google that too!

Finished To Find a Golden Pony....smiley please! Bit of a spurge, price-wise at $45, for me, but worth it (and offset by my $1 specials ) Seem to have been a total pony-ish mood, at least for the challenge, this year....have read all but my two non-pony selections! (Though I have read a few other books not on the challenge this summer). Anyway, on to Your Call, Miss Gaynor by Mary Elwyn Patchett now.

I love that cover but not the story as much. Thanks Susan, not ill but stressed about stuff. I decided to crack on and finish A Job With Horses this afternoon. It get's a smiley please Claire. A bit obvious who the thief was going to be but I didn't expect how Charlie ended up A different story line for a change and a bit of romance thrown in as well. The only thing that irritated me was the amount of typos! The worst I've come across in pony books.

I've almost forgotten everything about A Job With Horses. I think a re-read is in order soon. Shame about the typos.

Finished 'Keep a Silver dollar' - Marjorie Reynolds and I loved it It was a really enjoyable read. it is actually set in the US but to me it was very much like a traditional British pony book. Loved the characters and the lovely horses. Claire please give this a big juicy smiley, so far this is competition for Swiftly for my favourite read!

Could I have a smiley face for "The Runaway Summer of Davie Shaw" please?
(I don't suppose you have a face with one eye brow arching quizzically a la Roger Moore?)
Strange book, but fun in an odd way

I really like Silver Dollar too brumby and I agree it has a traditional British feel about it. Have you read A Horse of her Own by Selma Hudnut, this is another USA book which has a British feel to it and its a great read.
Sorry tintin the nearest I have to a quizzical smiley is the question mark one. I thought it was rather an odd book myself.
Back to me, sadly (and sorry haffy) I am struggling with Treasure to the East by Patricia Leitch. I didn't think I would have problems with one of her books as I like them all but I'm afraid this one is not doing it for me. I don't find the characters appealing and I found the first chapter actually quite disturbing. I may go back to it in a few days but won't hang onto it too long as I think Brumby wants to borrow it too.

Claire wrote
Not me who wants to borrow it, I have just finished it and really enjoyed it (thanks Haffy) I really enjoyed the first chapter as the story got straight into it and I was intrigued from the start, Agree Claire at times the book is disturbing and quite dark at times. Keep reading if you can as there is more hope as the story moves along. Its a smiley for me, it was really nice to read something different for a change.

Glad you enjoyed it brumby. Claire, i think it's safe to say unless it's an absolute classic, eg Pony Club Camp or Prince Among Ponies, if i liked it you probably wouldn't and vice versa I've been saving Silver Shadows as my holiday read (incase i loose it) so should be be back on track tomorrow, with a couple more to go afterwards.

Sorry brumby for some reason thought you were borrowing it from haffy after me. Was anyone else...? Lol haffy thats probably true Updated smilies. Sorry brumby (again!) just realised I had missed out Silver Snaffles will add on next update. Can everyone check to make sure I haven't missed any more out. Well done to all. I must hang my head with shame - everyone has got a red rosette and I have only got a yellow one! summerreadingchallenge.ponymadbooklovers.co.uk/

I was bored to tears with Ride by Night. A silly unbelievable story and not my cup of tea. Frowny smiley for that one please.I do love the illustrations by Sheila Rose though.
That's me done and Dark Horse of Woodfield is my star read.

Well done Rosie and Cloud first ones to finish and get trophies! And Rosie you were the one who nearly didn't take part cos you thought you wouldn't havve time! I agree re. Ride by Night, defo not one of her best. I feel the 'adventure' type books the PTs wrote far inferior to their more traditional classic pony stories.

Congratulations to Rosie and Cloud! Not only done, but done weeks early!!!
Still working on my list....finished Your Call, Miss Gaynor, smiley please! Not a top tier theatre book, but I'd say it's a solid B list entry...made it into my permanent collection.

Could I have a smiley face for "Robbers in the Night"? A good, well written book with a happy ending, but a bit sad. Life at the bottom end of the pile. Very good for kids to read, especially at the time it was written.

I have started to continue to read A Place With Two Faces. I must say that I am not enjoying it as much as I did before so I am undecided. It's a well written book, and quite a departure from JPT's usual style, so no wonder she wrote it under a pseudonym.

Just finished Pony from Tarella, I didn't like it I loved it! (Sorry Rosie) Couldn't wait to get home from work to keep reading. Surprised me really as I find some of the australian titles tend to waffle on too much about the landscape but this moved along nicely.
Loved the last chapter on the Royal Melbourne Show, living in Melbourne we just refer to it as 'the show' and it was a big part of my childhood and it was described exactly as I remembered it as a child.
Do agree Rosie felt very sorry for Sunflower, although I really liked Sandy and loved the way you really got to know him and how he felt. It s smiley for me and its now going to be very difficult to decide my favourite read.

Hi folks sorry I haven't been around for a couple of days or updated smilies. Not very well at the moment. I will get them done when I'm feeling better. I love Pony from Tarella, one of my favourite Aussie pony books.
