Nice find Susan. I like Hilda Boden's books. Just to add I'm quite surprised when I can find a Stabenfeldt pony book nowadays for a non-silly price. They are very hard to find. Shame I sold a load years ago when I needed the money now I want to collect them all again and they are too expensive! Typical!

Absolutely chuffed to find these BIlly and Blaze books on UK ebay and for a small price! Been looking for some for years but they have all been in the USA. Stunning illustrations! I picked up The Snow Foal (a modern pony story) for 50p in a charity shop.

Oooo, what a lovely haul, Claire! Congratulations It really is especially nice to find those books from abroad locally. And sometimes they're cheaper because nobody in your country is looking for them....my copy of Primrose Cumming's Silver Eagle Carries On, gorgeous 1st edition in dj, I got for under $10 USD on ebay. Hope your haul was a bargain too!

Hi Susan, thanks. yes the Billy books came as a set of 4 and were very cheap. I also just got hold of a copy of Sea Ponies by M. M. Oliver with the elusive dustjacket for not too many pennies. I will post a pic when I've repaired the jacket as it's a bit tatty. Having quite good luck with my finds at the moment.

You are on a roll! It's funny how it goes that way, you find nothing for soooo long and then it's an embarrassment of riches

I'm still striking it lucky with my finds. Absolutely chuffed to have got this lot from ebay for £15, all first editions. I know they're not everyone's cup of tea and even I think they're a bit hit and miss - but nobody can deny that the dustjackets are lovely!

Congrats, Claire, the djs are absolutely lovely I think the Jacqueline Rides for a Fall is my favorite, of those I've read. Three Jays Go to Town is the only one I haven't tackled yet....maybe for the summer challenge?

Three Jays go to Town is muy favourite one of them all. It has them competing in the Prince Philip Cup at Wembley. Some of the others where they were travelling about in various countries were a bit meandering and form-less, not to mention a lack of horsiness in some of them. This one has a much tighter plot and is very horsy. I think you've whetted my appetite for a re-read of it for the summer challenge. Crikey - that will be with us before we know it, although it still feels more like winter over here!

Ooh they are lovely! I agree that the series are hit and miss. I did read one last year for the summer challenge and it was very dull (Rome?) but I think I've read another one in the series which wasn't so bad, I misremember which one. I might also join in with the Three Jays Go To Town over summer as it sounds quite interesting.

It would be good if all three of us read the book and we could compare notes. As I got the hardbacks to replace my paperback editions, I now have a few spares if anyone would like them.

I've got Three Jays Go to Town and it's now on my summer challenge list! I agree, it is nice to have one that we're all reading during the challenge

Not bought any 'paper' pony books in a while but saw the anniversary copy of silver brumby, and it had the bonus of this series and a couple of other titles in the lot too.

Picked these two up for just over a fiver for the pair. I'm slowly trying to build up the entire collection of pony club annuals and the early ones are hard to come by so am chuffed with these. Incidentally the annual has a Christmas themed story in it by Pamela Macgregor Morris. I may scan ths and make it available to those who don't already have it, as part of the Christma Read this year. (As a bonus the other book has lovely illustrations by Stanley Lloyd.)
Ooh forgot to reply to Haffy's post - the Anniversary edition of The Silver Brumby looks very nice - a good lot!

Finally, finally found a copy of Veronica Westlake’s The Intruders!
It could have been cheaper, and in better condition, but it’s complete and has its dust jacket, so I’m well pleased 😊
If anyone is looking for a copy, now is probably a good time to keep an eye out….a half dozen copies, cheaper and in better condition, will likely surface soon…. isn’t that always the case 😉

Well done susan! I hope you'll enjoy it. It's reminded me I still haven't dug out my book scan collection in order to try and find a way to make them available to the pumble community. Just have so much on at the moment. I do fancy a re-read of it. I haven't actually got a physical copy of the book, only the scan - maybe I'll take advantage of 'sod's law' as you suggest susan, and look for a copy now...

Great haul Claire!!! I have Ponies in Secret, it’s so lovely and it was a fun read. Not a single annual in my collection, though 😫
I’d love to try one, but no idea what to start with 🙄
