If you're ever in my part of the world, you need to try going to a place called Cocoa Black's in Peebles.
Trust me, you'll have diabetes in the space of one or two visits...!!

darenc1 - bet you didn't expect all these temptations when you first raised the innocent question about chocolate digestives! Had to laugh today when I saw a free Kindle book with this review: "Un-Neigh-Borly Behavior by Cheryl Rhodes should come with a warning: Reader may crave chocolate when reading! The main character, DeeDee, seems to be obsessed with any desert and at a fundraiser, stocks up on homemade delights. Made my mouth water and think about baking some brownies!" See the freebies thread folks if you still want this book.

allyk that chocolate cheesecake looks delicious Good thing it's zero calories too Reader may crave chocolate when reading! The main character, DeeDee, seems to be obsessed with any desert and at a fundraiser, stocks up on homemade delights. Made my mouth water and think about baking some brownies!" Did somebody say brownies? (Although I did hear a vicious rumor that people over there don't appreciate the wonder that is peanut butter. Heathens.)

That Chocolate cheese cake is crying out for some squirty cream...
One of my colleagues had a recipe for survival biscuits that had peanut butter as the principle ingredient, they had so many calories you actually felt a burning sensation on your mouth as you ate them

I love cakes and biscuits, but I hate digestive biscuits. Similarly I hate cheesecake not because of the filling, but usually they are made with digestive biscuit base. I love to bake whenever I can. This is what I made a couple of months ago, a chocolate lamington cake. It was the first time I used a piping bag, and I think I did a good job. and this is what it looked like once I cut it

garej, do you take mail orders ----------------------- If I was in charge of marketing for these companies, I would do everything in my power to bury the term 'digestives'. It has a vaguely medical and nauseating connotation. If you asked an American if they would like to eat a digestive they would look at you strangely and start edging away. On the other hand if you asked them to try some ChocoCrunchies they would say 'Sure!'

I can only eat biscuits and cake if they don't have flour in them, that mostly leaves flapjacks and meringues! I do love Eton Mess!

ooo...that looks so yummy, garaj! Is that coconut sprinkles? Love coconut! It's dessicated coconut, dont know if that is the same as coconut sprinkles. There was a layer of (very) thin chocolate icing, but it didnt show up on the photo. I love baking, but I havent done any for a while. Last time I did a fruit cake, which is a family recipe. It's not a recipe which you can do in a hurry, it takes about 2 1/2 hours to make!

Yummy looking cake garej. I love baking too. If I've time I'll usually make a cake or biscuits or scones when family or friends are coming to visit. I always feels its a bit of a cheat to give people shop bought cakes! The last thing I made was a massive strawberry trifle for my mums birthday that was yummy. My most popular cake is chocolate sponge cake with white chocolate butter icing. Made my dad one for fathers day. I dread to think how many calories I consumed just licking the spoons and whats left in the bowls. (cat likes to lick the bowl out too!)
Allyk, the term 'digestive' as in biscuit does not have any icky connotations over here - we just think of the biscuit. They would never change the name in the UK as its so iconic. Maybe in the states tho it would be a good idea.

I don't like most chocolate biscuits. Except for a French kind called Petit Ecoliers. Not usually available here.
