Thanks for the list trixiepony. I've got them all so whatever you choose is fine - you're not difficult at all! Susan - Not sure of everything I've got and too numerous to list! I do have all the classic USA series like Misty, Flicka, Black Stallion, Fury, etc, also quite a lot of modern US ones, plus lots of odds and ends. Maybe you could compile a shortlist like trixiepony did and I'll see what I have or can get hold of. I don't mind tracking down the odd book for the comp either. Last year I got all the Pony Whisperer books from the library for haffy's specialist subject and I enjoyed them - prob wouldn't have got round to reading them otherwise!

For haffy and others wondering what to choose, I physically can't list all the books I have as just far too many but here is a quick overview:
Just about all British pony books series and authors up to the 1970s and all the most popular American ones, plus those in the above post to susan and quite a few more US ones. Also I have lots of Stabenfeldt ones, especially by Angela Dorsey and Jane Ayres. I have a few modern UK ones too and can get hold of most I haven't got. Haven't got a huge number of Australian ones, just the Silver B books, a couple of Mary Patchett Brumby ones, Pony From Tarella, a couple of James Aldridge ones, a few Billabong ones and some other bits and bobs. But basically unless its a rare book you want to do or an obscure author I'll probably be able to sort something out. As I said before if people give say 3 choices I'll hopefully be able to do at least one of the choices.

How about we call my specialist subject "American Smorgasbord" and use the following:
Patsey Grey: Horsepower (if you can find it, otherwise Horse in Her Heart)
Marion Holland: Secret Horse
Barbara Holland: The Pony Problem
Susanne Wilding: Big Jump for Robin
I just checked your "for sale" site to see if there were any American books on it, and found two more you can add, if you like:
C.W. Anderson: Afraid to Ride
Thomas Fall: Wild Boy
Re Dorothy Lyons....you haven't read any? eek!

I think I'll go for The Trick Riders. Tintin's review has whetted my appetite to read it again and I've read it enough time to be able to remember a lot of it without too much swotting!

I'll help if I can Thanks Rosie - anyone else? ?? Of course we could be really mean and not tell her which book/books we choose!! ;D For some reason the expression wicked old besom springs to mind! Susan - are you sure you don't want to pick just one book or author, might be easier for you? If not then the smorgasbord it is. Nope for some reason I never come across any Dorothy Lyons books and they always seem expensive when I see them on-line.

Mmm not shore what you'll call my lot but we can just have the ones I said first, but I could do one off the sets as naming it would be easier may be the Gypsy books I have the 3.

Ok, one book it is.....Secret Horse by Marion Holland, please! (Almost said Horsepower, as it would give me an excuse to read it again, but then thought "nah....take pity on poor Claire, don't make her go hunting for her copy" )

Susan good choice as I've been meaning to read this for ages since you recommended it. It somehow escaped the reading programme. (Probably was underneath a mountain of stuff in my spare room - which is prob where Horsepower is too!) (Almost said Horsepower, as it would give me an excuse to read it again, but then thought "nah....take pity on poor Claire, don't make her go hunting for her copy" ) Rosie and kunuma take note - this is how to treat your poor old mod ;D (I'll get you two back - I'll make your questions harder than anyone elses ;D )

Yes thanks Claire Gypsy books it is. Good oh - I havent read the last one yet so will give me an excuse to read them all in order. I seem to remember there were some stinking questions on my 'mastermind revenge' a couple of years ago but I didnit do too bad by completely guessing some of them correctly! I dont think my luck will hold twice tho... Hmm will try and think of a specialist subject of my own now!

Hi all just to let you know that I have pencilled in round 1 (general knowledge) for 20th October. You will then have a week to answer the questions which will hopefully give everyone a chance to get onto the forum to do so. There will then be a week's break for you to gen up on your specialist subject before round 2. Once again you will have a week to answer the questions in round 2. In summary:
20th-27th October - Round 1 General Knowledge
3rd-10th November - Round 2 Specialist Subject
The last couple of contestants who have yet to choose a specialist subject please can you do so in the next few days if you can.
If you haven't put your name down yet but would like to join in, its still not too late. As long as I have your name before the 20th October.

But the IMPORTANT question is = what are you choosing for your specialist subject Claire - we need to see if any of us (Rosie, Sarah and me so far, still room for applicants!! ;D)have got the right books. Plus I've forgotten how many General knowledge questions there need to be??

Thanks haffy. More than one person can have the same book so if you want to choose A Pony to School its OK by me as will be less work for me to do hehe! However I can do any of them so whichever you prefer. But the IMPORTANT question is = what are you choosing for your specialist subject Claire - we need to see if any of us (Rosie, Sarah and me so far, still room for applicants!! ;D)have got the right books. Plus I've forgotten how many General knowledge questions there need to be?? Lol can't even remember how many questions I did meself! I think it was 20-25 I'll have to check last years! When do I have to pick my subject? Are you doing 'my' mastermind after the official one?

I did do a forum search but didn't turn up what I was looking for -- are there links to old Mastermind challenges so I can get an idea of the types of questions and how the rounds of the game work? TIA!
