Hi to all newcomers to the forum. Please feel free to introduce yourself and receive a warm welcome from myself and the other members. To start the ball rolling let me introduce myself. I run the website ponymadbooklovers.co.uk and set up this forum due to popular demand from it's users! As you can expect I am both horse and book mad. I have a huge collection of horsy books but no horse at the moment! I also run an internet based bookshop called Squirrel Books which specialises in children's books especially (suprise suprise) pony novels. Looking forward to meeting you all!

Hello all from darkhorse I live in Wales and my favourite horses are Welsh ponies and Arabs. I use to have a Welsh Cob called Sunny but am now horse-less. I have been reading pony books for nearly 30 years now and I still love them. My favourites are the Pullein-Thompson sisters but I like just about them all.

Hello All! I live in Norfolk and have been a pony book reader for many years - no horse I'm afraid but was a keen rider until a problem back injury. My favourite pony books which I first read at school are Highland Pony Trek and Riding Course Summer by Patricia Leitch. I also have an ebay shop called " Paws and Ponies " in which I sell lots of pony, dog and cat books. Although I have no horse I am the proud owner of 2 West Highland Terriers - Pogle & Midge!

Hi, I am 26 and I live in North East Wales. As you can see, I love Pony books, particularly Pullein-Thompson ones. You may have heard of me already - my pony book blog is called the Pullein-Thompson-Archive. If you havent, I review all the pony books (mainly fictional) that they have wrote. At the moment I have only done some of Diana's - this is because I do one once a week. Eventually I will be doing all of them, it just takes time. I started it because I wanted to share my love of the P-T books, also because they wrote so many that it impossible for someone just looking at ebay/abebooks/amazon to know what they are about. Most sellers dont bother to print the blurb on the back or even give someone a sentence or two telling what the book is about - meaning that you have no idea what the book is about. Also, some of the titles are hard to find. If you have just spent over a tenner on a book, it's annoying to find that it is boring or not your cup of tea. I dont mind people asking my opinion about a book that isnt there - I have nearly all the sister's pony fictional works, so the chances are, I have it, if nobody else does. I dont take requests to do certain books on my blog because I do the books in order that they appear on my bookshelf (and also by author), I have a fairly busy lifestyle that I find that if I dont do it that way, I will forgot which ones that I have and havent done. If anyone is wanting to read it you can find a link here: pullein-thompson-archive.blogspot.com/I have also added/edited the Pullein-Thompson wikipedia article quite significantly - before I did it, there wasnt all the books that they wrote listed. Now, every single one that they have done so, is listed, along with many links. Last night I did some editing, making sure that all their names went to the article (previously if you typed in Josephine Pullein-Thompson it went to the article, but if you typed in Christine Pullein-Thompson it didnt), including their married ones and pseudonyms. Claire - I apologise for encroaching on your idea a little - until today, I was genuinely unaware that you had done reviews on the P-T pony books. However, as my blog will be mainly focusing on the P-T sisters (and their mother, Joanna Cannan eventually) hopefully they are different enough to live happily by each other side by side!! I do plan to talk about other pony books, but as for the actual reviews, it will be confined to the P-T sisters (and their mother) only. Also, are you squirrelnutmeg on ebay? If so, I have bought from you before on ebay, in fact multiple times, and am pleased with your service. poglepie - again, I have bought from you multiple times, also again, pleased with your service. In fact you two are the 2 favourite ebay sellers that I like to buy books from - but I havent bought anything from you two recently, due to the fact that I have all the P-T books you offer!! I dont have a pony (unless you count plastic ones), but I do live with a cat. His name is Jack and he is special because he has only got one eye.

Hello to the latest members! Nice to see we have an assortment of animals between us. My two cats, Rosie and Oscar, will be miffed to find out that I havent mentioned them yet, though they do make an appearance in my blog!
Oh if anyone is interested yes I am squirrelnutmeg on ebay!
garej I in no way think you are encroaching on my 'territory' in fact it is my Australian friend who does most of the reviews. But in any case you can have many reviews of the same book as everyone has different opinions! The ponymadbooklovers website and more recently the forum were set up not only to create a community of people who love pony books but also to try and build up a knowledge base of info on pony books. As all of us know who have tried to find anything out about pony books or authors the amount of data either in books or on the web is pitiful! If we can set up links between various websites, blogs, etc, and pool our knowledge then this can only be a good thing. In fact it is my ambition for this knowledge base to become the place people will visit on the internet when they want to find out pony book info. Sorry folks will get off my pedestal now! ;D Seriously though if anyone has their own pony book projects or blogs feel free to mention them on the forum, I would love to find out about anyone else who is collecting such info.

garej I in no way think you are encroaching on my 'territory' in fact it is my Australian friend who does most of the reviews. But in any case you can have many reviews of the same book as everyone has different opinions! Thanks for that. I believe that I have the most complete collection of the P-T pony fictional books (I have only 10 to go), so there may come a time when I have a book that nobody else does. Like you said, people have different opinions, I hated The Pennyfields by Diana, but someone may like it. Besides, it will be at least a year before I tackle Christine, as Josephine wrote many more than Diana. (Josephine will be started before the end of the year.) If at the end of the day, people have somewhere to look at so that they know what the books are about other than the title, it's all that matters.

Hi, I'm usually the world's biggest lurker on forums, but this one has me dying to ask a million questions! I've read pony books all my life and have quite a collection, but am far to much of a technophobe to work out how to sell my doubles! I'm looking after two ponies for next door at present - of my own have dogs, cats (they weren't my idea!), guinea pigs, and goldfish! I'm in Devon.

Hi from Fizz (which was my school nickname many years ago).
I am a painter, but don't paint horses, though I might if some one asked me, I do doodle them a lot. I had a pony as a child, who was called El Sham, influenced by King of the Wind, I just loved the illustrations. I don't have an equine now but I do have a cat. I live in Manchester though I grew up in a rural area. I love horse racing.

Hi all newcomers!
As haffyfan says we are all a bit mad here. This is certainly not a serious forum! Altho we like to discuss books we also love to have a laugh. (And are not averse to looking at the odd pic of a fit man ;D ) We also love to see pics of our forum member's pets...we have a special thread to post them.
BTW fizz, love racing too, do you prefer flat or jumps?

I'm another who is trying to track down all those books I gave away years ago. Every 're-found' book brings great excitement. A fan of Ruby Ferguson, Gillian Baxter, Caroline Akrill and the PT sisters.

Hello from Australia! I'm here for all the same reasons as all of you, except that stuck here instead of actually being in the UK where I've wanted to live since the age of 4.
As this is the 1st time I've ever posted anything on a forum, I'll keep it short because it probably won't work anyway...

OMG I think it worked...I can see it here, sitting on my couch at 10.30a.m Monday in Canberra, but whether you guys can see it... I started reading pony books again when I was doing my B.A as a mature student, and they were a way to wind down before bed after reading heavy sociological/anthropological stuff. I'm raising 2 young boys with the help of my wonderful partner who, unfortunately, doesn't share my dream of living the horsey life in England, and I get my equine 'fix' by volunteering weekly at our RDA (as well as reading pony books, 'Your Horse', 'Horse and Rider UK' etc etc).

Hello from Australia! I'm here for all the same reasons as all of you, except that stuck here instead of actually being in the UK where I've wanted to live since the age of 4. Want to do a pony book lovers house swap?? I've always wanted to live over there!! (Preferably in the mountains with the silver brumbies LOL) Welcome to all the new folks, the more the merrier - going to be a BIG cream tea laid on come summertime for us alll!! ;D

Thanks kunuma- I'd love to swap providing you live somewhere approaching Chatton or a Redwings farm! There are Brumbies not too far away but they are hard to find and the government(s) here are 'managing' the horses, that they view as destructive feral pests, in pretty horrific ways. It's almost bed time for me here and I don't want to get too down thinking about it now- I'd be happy to talk about horses in Australia and equine welfare to anyone that's interested (that's my interest) but right now I'm off to bed with 'Plenty of Ponies! Thanks for welcoming me to the forum: I'm addicted already!
