I think No 1 links them together because they are all horses in books by K M Peyton. (Fly by Night is in the book of the same name, Crab is from Crab the Roan and I cant think what Goonda is in.)

Goonda is Lightning's mare in Silver Brumbies of the South - she was a red roan - so it could be the colour roan if there isn't another Goonda in the Peyton books?

Correct, haffy, kunuma and rosie, well done. Yes it's quite a toughie but I'm sure you brainey lot will be able to cope. I will be giving out clues later if people are struggling. Also no doubt other links will appear between them which I havent thought of, much as horse's names kept appearing unintentionally in the word search quiz!

I agree theres a few 'seemingly easy/straight forward ones' and then a whole host of 'haven't got the foggiest' ones too
12 - They all had books published whilst still technically 'children'

6 At first I thought it was all the only books written by the author, but that wouldn't work for three White Stockings, so is it that they are all based on true stories?

Sarah well done no. 20 is correct.
Kunuma, thats not the answer, its more simplistic. You in particular should get the connection - thats a clue!
Exmoorfan, you are somewhat on the right track for 23, its more specific, but it may be hard to work out if you have only read one of them!

I don't know who Silver Birch is, the winner of the Grand National a while ago who was beaten by the jockey round the course was called that, but don't think it is him? Is 23 Smugglers?
